This hotel was absolutely disgusting! It smelled like pee and was clearly in need of a serious scrubbing if not a complete renovation. We called the front desk staff in to smell the room and asked for another room. He actually admitted that it smelled like urine, but had no other rooms available. So he came in and poured powder carpet freshener all over the room. You're supposed to vacuum after using the powder but he didn't have a vacuum so the carpet was left covered in white powder stripes. None of us would walk in the room without shoes. When we asked for a discount on our $165 room he offered $20 off. The Monterey Peninsula was sold out, otherwise we would have left immediately. The bathroom tile was coming up so we didn't even use the shower. We got out of there as quickly as possible.

I would NEVER stay there again. Worse than a $25 motel 6 in the middle of Kansas!

I have never been so disgusted in a motel. Even if you're looking for a bargain I would steer clear from this DIRTY place. I don't think they even cleaned the room before we checked in. We saw bugs, a piece of lettuce on the floor and a wine cork by the bed. The walls were paper thin. We were so unsettled!

The motel served its purpose as somewhere to sleep. We were disappointed with the quality of the room (not at all like the pictures). It was very basic. We didn't bother with the free continential breakfast. Again don't be fooled by the pictures of the pool it was alot smaller and in the car park by the main road. Staff (what we saw of them) were not particually helpful or freindly.

Quite honestly, the hotel staff was extremely courteous. They tried to help us out in any way they could, providing us with extra towels, pillows, anything we needed. When we stayed at this motel, they did have hot water (have no idea what other review was talking about). It felt as if the staff really do care about their guests and they were always happy and smiling, it felt like home. The continental breakfast was also good (it's free), and they have no problem keeping the food trays filled. The front desk clerk also helped us plan our entire stay at Monterey. They showed us all of the key attractions, as well as attractions that many people do not know about. It seems like they truly believe that they are here to serve the guests unlike some other places. I think they are managing the best they can, low prices and clean and comfortable rooms in a pricey resort area, where the cost of living here is unfathomable.
