I recently saw Ironman 2 at this theater. It was not anything like a real IMAX experience.
1- Screen size: About the size of a larger regular theater (which is very small for IMAX) tiered seating may have been rare 10 years ago, but now almost every theater has it.
2- Picture resolution: No better than a regular theater.
3- Picture brightness: Picture not bright enough to overcome the orange safety lights on the floor, so there were orange patches at both bottom corners of the screen.
So I paid $12.75 for a matinee show that was no better than what I would have seen if I paid $5.00 at any other theater.
Are the original IMAX movies, the non-theatrical versions, better? I don't know, but after this I'm not going to spend another dime there.
I've seen theatrical releases on IMAX and this is not it. The reason people think movie stars have perfect skin is because movie theater resolution (if you can use that term with a film format) is too low to show skin blemishes. I saw Matrix Reloaded on IMAX in Denver, and the resulution was so fine and the screen so large you could see every bit of Keanu Reeve's razor burn, the picture was incredible, both in resolution and size. This was no comparison.
