Stayed here for one evening with the family during a vacation in the Bay area.

The Good:

- Very pleasant & courteous staff
- Family suite was good sized with bunk beds for kids
- Two free bottles of water in the large mini-fridge
- Fast wireless Internet access
- Decent sized TV in the main bedroom
- Reasonable price (less than $150/night)
- Very close to waterfront and 10 minute drive from Cannery Row & 17 mile drive
- Salt-water swimming pool
- Fairly clean
- Flexible check-out time (standard was 11 AM, but I was able to get it pushed to noon the morning I checked out)

The Bad:

- No microwave in room
- Room was very warm/stuffy and did not seem to have any ventilation other than opening a window
- Attached restaurant had slow service and exorbitant rates for breakfast (if I had to stay there again, I'd walk the three blocks to the nearby McDonald's)

This hotel was recommended in our guide book but suggested it was $150 - 200 a night so we were very pleasantly surprised when it was less than $90 a night!

The rooms were very spacious and clean and looked like they have recently been modernised. There is a large shower cubicle in the bathroom (no bath) which again was very clean.

The fridge was stocked with complimentary bottled water and there is a petrol station next door to stock it up more. There was also a coffee maker with coffee supplied.

It was too cold to use the pool but there were some people in the spa next to the pool.

Very friendly and knowledgeable reception staff with internet access in reception which you wouldn't usually expect in a motel style hotel so an added bonus.

The guide book was right with it's recommendation. This is a hidden gem of a hotel and an absolute bargain!

We booked a one night stay at Monterey Bay Lodge on 3/16. Our Santa Cruz reservation fell through on 3/15 and we needed a place to stay. We called Monterey Bay Lodge to see if they could fit us in early and unfortunately they were booked. Cindy, the manager of Monterey Bay Lodge, found us a room at another hotel close by. All in under 15 minutes. It was impressive and wonderful and such a relief for this family of four. Thank you to Cindy and "RESORT TO ME"!

We were able to check in to Monterey Bay Lodge on the reserved 3/16. Very quick and efficient. We purchased aquarium tickets and were given discount coupons for the adjacent restaurant.

The room was clean and fine for a one night stay. Refridgerator with 2 complimetary water bottles. In-room safe also available. Very loud street traffic. Quicky-Mart a few steps away. We easily walked to the Dennis the Menace park. The kids loved the hotel's heated pool and hot tub.

I cannot believe how impressed we were with this place. The price was exceptional for the room we had. The front desk was beyond helpful and let us check into our room early and check out late! The room itself was fantastic. It was very clean, roomy, and updated. We also were very lucky as our balcony faced the beach which provided excellent views. The location was impecable as we were less than a block walk to the beach, directly across from Dennis the Menace Park, and within short walking distance to both the wharf and cannery row. They also had a heated pool for kids (or adults). We cannot get over what a great deal we found. We definitely plan on returning.
