Found this through other TripAdvisor reviews. Maybe because it's off season, only paid $60 for it! It's set up like a motel with room doors to the outside, but is nicer than any motel! Good sized room that included queen bed, arm chair and mini fridge (with two complimentary bottled waters). Staff was very nice, I expected to be checking in late and they were very accommodating. My room looked out over the courtyard with pool, hot tub, and flowers. I used the hot tub in the morning and it was clean and well kept, as the pool looked also. It was a quick walk across the street to part of the Monterey beach, and you can walk on the Rec path along the coast all the way to the wharf and the town (a mile or two?).

FYI, I thought the Coast Guard Pier at Monterey was even better than San Francisco's Fishermen's wharf for seeing seals. They were all along the rocks so that you can see them about 3 feet away, and there were about a tenth of the people as at SF. Also, there were starfish, other fish, pelicans...lots of wildlife to see!

Would definitely stay here again.

This is an older courtyard style motel. The Desk Manager was exceptional welcoming and the room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. We were able to easily walk to shops downtown, to Cannery Row, and to the Aquarium. There is a little view from the courtyard balcony for 2nd floor units, but not really any views from inside the room. I would recommend this hotel for a short stay and a good night sleep.

We could not have been more pleased with our stay for several days while on our honeymoon. The location was great, just across the street from the bay, within walking distance of great food and attractions, and a short drive to 17 Mile Drive. We were fortunate enough to stay in a courtyard room with fireplace. It was a decent size, easily accessible, and recently renovated. Employees were helpful and pleasant. We would highly recommend for anyone staying in Monterey.

Traveled 11/23-11/26. Great stay and nice place. Traveled with wife and 2 boys ages 4 and 6. Stayed in a two queen bed room. I stayed here on advice from experts at trip advisors and could not have been happier. Did not spend lots of time in the room but when we did it was fine. Not a huge room but enough room for us. Bathroom small with no tub. Boys loved the pool and hot tub. The pool was warmed to 80 degrees so even when it was a little chilly, they were ready to go. Everything was clean, very clean and decor was fine. The hotel is built as a square with a courtyard and pool on the inside. It was quiet and the staff made us feel welcome and attended to any of our needs. I did not eat there but my wife and kids were not very impressed with the onsite restraunt. I would suggest something else. Location is perfect. I took the car to go golfing and they were able to walk to Dennis the Mennis park, Monterey beach, and Old Fishermans wharf. I will stay here everytime I go back.

We booked this hotel based on the great reviews it received on TripAdvisor. It did not live up to the hype. It is close to a major street, so there's a lot of road noise. But we wanted to keep our window open because the room was so warm when we arrived and there's no central A/C. We did, however, find a small desk fan which we kept running all night. We were scheduled to stay three nights, but checked out after the first night. The hotel staff was very understanding about our early check-out and did not charge us even though we violated the 48 hour cancellation policy. Plus, they let us stay in our room for two extra hours while we lined up a different hotel.
