“Perfect for us”

Traveled 11/23-11/26. Great stay and nice place. Traveled with wife and 2 boys ages 4 and 6. Stayed in a two queen bed room. I stayed here on advice from experts at trip advisors and could not have been happier. Did not spend lots of time in the room but when we did it was fine. Not a huge room but enough room for us. Bathroom small with no tub. Boys loved the pool and hot tub. The pool was warmed to 80 degrees so even when it was a little chilly, they were ready to go. Everything was clean, very clean and decor was fine. The hotel is built as a square with a courtyard and pool on the inside. It was quiet and the staff made us feel welcome and attended to any of our needs. I did not eat there but my wife and kids were not very impressed with the onsite restraunt. I would suggest something else. Location is perfect. I took the car to go golfing and they were able to walk to Dennis the Mennis park, Monterey beach, and Old Fishermans wharf. I will stay here everytime I go back.

We booked this hotel based on the great reviews it received on TripAdvisor. It did not live up to the hype. It is close to a major street, so there's a lot of road noise. But we wanted to keep our window open because the room was so warm when we arrived and there's no central A/C. We did, however, find a small desk fan which we kept running all night. We were scheduled to stay three nights, but checked out after the first night. The hotel staff was very understanding about our early check-out and did not charge us even though we violated the 48 hour cancellation policy. Plus, they let us stay in our room for two extra hours while we lined up a different hotel.

We recently stayed here, October 2007. We booked the Monterey Bay Lodge because of the good reviews on this web site. We liked the location & overall it was alright. I don't think I would recommend it to my friends. It felt like your typical motel , a little bit too pricey !

“Overpriced and Overrated”

I booked this hotel for my boyfriend and I because it had such a great rating on this website. But after staying there, I must say, I am disappointed with the money I spent. $150 is WAY too much money for a motel.

My boyfriend and I got into the room and it was hot as heck. It was like the windows and doors hadn't been opened in weeks and the room had been heated by a heat wave. I opened the window for a while, but felt very uncomfortable that all the other guests can walk by the window, and even break into the room if they wanted.

This motel wasn't THAT bad, as on the positive side, the decorations were pretty nice and the location was acceptable, but it is so unbelievably overpriced.

Look somewhere else.

We chose this hotel based on it's rating and we were sadly disappointed. We booked a family room with the bunkbeds to accomodate our teens. When we entered the room we were surprised at how small it was, the bathroom was tiny and the bunk room was not much larger than a closet There was no air conditioning ,which we weren't aware of, and there was a letter in the room informing us of aerial pesticide spraying. This information strongly suggested keeping windows closed , that in turn made the room very uncomfortable for sleeping and the bunk room almost unbearable. It would have been nice to have been told about this when I spoke to the desk clerk and made the reservation. Thankfully we were only there one night. The hotel was supposedly renovated in, I believe 2003, but our room was very dingy and dated. Overall we were very disappointed and would not stay here again.
