“Pricey but sooo worth it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

We chose this hotel based on the proximity to the Monterey Aquarium and the Cannery Row area. Well, you can't get much better than this place! We bought a package deal where with our room you got tickets to the aquarium. Perfect. The hotel is modern and neat and clean. We had a gas fire place which my two boys loved. What a nice treat to have for a cool, January night in Monterey! We ate breakfast at the hotel overlooking the water where we saw Otters frolicking. This place was expensive, but what an experience you get. Go for it!

Room Tip: Take note that there are two buildings. Only one is on the water, the other is across the street con...

Fact: Cannery Row - once historical - now a melee of shoppers, strollers, chain restaurants, and multiple touristy shops, cars, has a few Jewels in the Crown: The Monterey Aquarium and the elegant InterContinental. Our lovely quiet, spacious room faced the courtyard and the water - if you craned your neck. Across the board - the staff was 100% all about Customer Service. Restaurant downstairs - fabulous. A true oasis. Can't wait to return.
Call me square: Dogs allowed in sleeping rooms?

Room Tip: Note: Now roll away beds allowed in our two bed room...Courtyard is so wonderfully quiet.

If you want to experience Cannery Row, than this is the luxurious place to go.
Modern interiors, friendly and attentive staff. Nice deco.
We really enjoyed our stay.

The very positive side is the breakfast at the main restaurant, where you can enjoy the views over Montereay Bay. Food is excellent and service prime class.

My only real complain would be the narrow beds in the otherwise very comfortable room.
I wouldn't call them "double" by any means.
This impacts the experience, which the in-room fireplace even can't repair.

Dear Miramaks,

I am pleased to hear that you were able to experience the C restaurant + bar during your stay, with its views over Monterey Bay. Our menus offer only sustainable seafood, and many of our wines are local. I hope you will return soon to further experience our Bay views and nautical cuisine.

Best regards,

We spent one night at the Clement, and it was simply gorgeous. Excellent service, beautiful room, great location (we were headed for the Aquarium). We had a wonderful breakfast at the hotel restaurant, and watched the otters play in the water while we ate. Only wished we had more time there!

Room Tip: The ocean view suites are spectacular!

The hotel was beautiful and the location is right next to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row. Cannery row used to be a great area and fun to walk around however it has changed quite a bit. There are lots of storefronts that are closed, no updated restaurants and the area is declining. The hotel is great and right near some great walking paths but I would only stay there if I were going to the aquarium.

Dear italytraveler,

I appreciate your compliments about our hotel, and am pleased to let you know that many new services and retail shops are headed to Cannery Row. The Monterey Bay Coastal Trail also continues to be a popular venue for everything from leisurely strolls along the water to bike riding in a motor-free environment. I hope you’ll visit again soon and see what’s new on Cannery Row!

Great location, nice room, excellent service. We spent two nights at the hotel and had a very enjoyable stay. Any time we asked the staff for assistance whether it be directions, a late check out, etc., they always tried to be accommodating.

This was a free stay for us because we have the Priority Club Visa. We did not get a room upgrade - we were in the annex across the street from the water in a room facing the parking lot so there was not even a peak of a view.

The room was nicely decorated and included a king size bed and gas fireplace. The bathroom was large with a shower and bath. The shower, as others have noted, does not have strong water pressure but the area needs to conserve water so I wasn't too bothered by that.

While we were there, the elevator was out and although the staff were friendly, they weren't very good at directing us to the stairs which I thought was a bit odd. Since this hotel is very close to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, there were quite a few families with small children and we could hear screaming babies and other hall noises a bit too well from our room. For an InterContinental, I expected a bit more and I'm glad we didn't actually pay for the night's stay. I wouldn't choose to stay here again when in Monterey, although if we'd had a room with a balcony opened to the water, I might have had a better impression.
