“Lovely location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2012

We had flown into San Francisco and after 3 nights picked up a car. Having booked our hotels through a company in England, we headed down here for our first night. The setting of the hotel couldn't be better: right on the bay on the famous Cannery Row. Our room was spacious and the hotel immaculate. Unfortunately, when we went into the bar for a drink, a beer cost $6 for what we both reckoned was a third of a pint. Needless to say, we didn't eat there or drink any more. Instead, we found a great bar down the road - the Bushwackers. The next morning, before our departure, we got juice and sandwiches from a small shop and ate them overlooking the Pacific. This is an expensive hotel, but in a great location.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for our honeymoon and came back a few months later because of how nice it was. We stayed in the luxury suite that had 2 fireplaces and a balcony that looked right out to the bay. The Master Suite was big with the tub in the master bath opening up to the master bedroom. You have shutters that you can close next to the tub for privacy if you wanted or open them up and have a view of the water from your tub. The room comes with a living room with a couch and space to entertain some friends. When we told the hotel that we were there to celebrate they even gave us some comps. The spa in the hotel is amazing and the gym has all the state of the art equipment.

Definitely coming back again...

Room Tip: Let them know when booking the room if this is for a special occasion such as a honeymoon. They may...

Having never been to Monterey, I didn't realize how touristy it is. But, luckily we were using rewards points at the InterContinental. The check-in was delightful with Sebastian who was so outgoing (loved the freshly made truffle on a stick).

Our room was beautiful with a fireplace to ward off the chilly air and a balcony to watch the bay wildlife. I would recommend a bay view. The bathroom was large, clean and comfortable with plenty of room to move around.

The reading room and outside areas were warm and inviting.

Very clean and spacious rooms, comfortable beds and lovely bathrooms we had a part ocean view from across the street overlooking the valet parking lot . Would have been good to have free wifi this should be in all hotels in this age of technology. Despite having paid for the service it kept dropping out regularly. We ate at the restaurant and the food and service were good.
I also used the spa which was a great start to Sunday morning very relaxing. My only suggestion would be for Stephanie who did an excellent massage could she cut her nails as I could feel them digging in a few times never experienced that before. Renee who did my facial did a great job too. Both were lovely and caring. We didn't use the hotel for breakfast but went instead to the art cafe next door which served a good cappuccino and latte with yoghurt berries and granola and a Danish for $12 plus you get to look at great artwork. Overall couldn't fault anything.

We stayed there to attend our cousin's wedding. The ceremony and the banquet all went very well. The hotel itself is very elegant and modern. The location is excellent! Our room is big for my kid to run around. We enjoyed our stay there. But the rate per night is very pricey, about 500+. Also, WIFI and breakfast are not included in the rate and the pool is somewhat too small for us. The Service is OK. We had to wait about 20 minutes for a dental set. Otherwise, it is a very nice hotel in the heart of Monterey bay.

Lovely hotel and very accommodating for our family, which included children ages 3 and 5. We had a partial ocean view room overlooking the terrace, which was hosting 2 different weddings. We were worried about the sound, since our kids went to bed early, and barely heard a noise because the rooms were sound-proof.

The only issue I had was that the room supposedly had a balcony, which consisted of a sliding glass door and a 4-inch wide landing. I don't really consider that to be a balcony, but this did not detract from our great experience at the hotel.

Stayed here with our kids last weekend. We usually stay nearby at another hotel, but decided to give The Clement a try. Very pretty property, however it lacks some kind of cosiness. Perhaps the empty seating in the huge lobby was it. They could really use that area as a gathering space for people to enjoy the evenings and mornings there and also work. One upgrade that would make a difference would be free Wi-Fi (unacceptable for this level of hotel) and maybe even coffee or tea in the morning, to encourage people to gather. It's not much to ask and what a feeling of welcoming it gives. They have a fireplace, but no one sits near it, or hangs out. The breakfast in the restaurant is good, but pricey and coffee and tea there is $5.00.

Rooms were pretty, but carpets and furniture were stained and needed cleaning, as did windows that were pretty filthy. Bedding was great. People are nice, but don't remember you at all. We had one guy take us up to our room, chat a long while and then when we rode in the elevator with him later that day, said nothing. Not the kind of place that makes you want to go back for the crazy price.

If your in this area, check out Hotel Pacific. Great place for a ton less a few blocks up. Free breakfast, lovely suites with fireplaces and good location too. I don't think Cannery Row is so fantastic to be right on unless you are facing the sea. It's noisy and crowded and most of these rooms face the street or the parking garage, which is quite loud.
