So as I've noted before, Monrovia is not a foodie haven (think Claim Jumper and Red Lobster). That being said, Caffe Opera is a nice little find. While not the quality of the fancy places in Pasadena or downtown LA, the food is really quite good, the service is wonderfully friendly and attentive, and the price is very reasonable. We really like that the servers in town don't seem to be frustrated actors who are waiting for their break and resenting having to serve food.
We went for dinner during the week, so it wasn't crowded at all (I don't know if it gets crowded on the weekend or not). We had a nice bottle of wine, two appetizers (smoked trout and salmon on bread, and bruschetta), and split the spicy shrimp pasta (which was too big to finish between the two of us but heated up nicely the next day).
The food was above average, and the pasta was pretty darn good. The wine was nice, the service was excellent, and the price with tax and tip was $100. Not a bad deal at all. We'll be back.
