My husband and I recently checked in at the Best Value Inn in Mojave, CA. I believe it was on 12/31. It was later on in the evening - we unloaded our luggage and went to dinner. After dinner my husband turned down the bed to find a used kleenex in the bed, the sheets were dirty and not tucked in - obviously they hadn't been changed. I went to the manager to see if I could get clean sheets and possibly a discount since I had to change the sheets myself. He refused to give us a discount and was upset with me for waiting 2 hours to tell him that the sheets were dirty. He took me to the laundry room and proceeded to give me wet sheets from the dryer and pillow cases that came off a pile that I couldn't tell if it was clean or dirty. There were sheets in a pile next the pillow case pile that were dry and since he gave me sheets from the dryer I can only assume that both the piles of pillow cases and the pile of sheets were dirty.
I then asked for another room. He said he had a room on the top floor. When I asked if he had a room on the ground floor he said he didn't have any available. When we checked in I saw the housekeeper cleaning out two rooms next to ours on the ground floor. They were not occupied. He gave me the key to the upstairs room and told me to bring back the other key. I went back to the room and told my husband what happened and he was furious. At that point we decided to drive on to the next town. The manager then came by the room for the key. When we told him that we were leaving he said he would get us a room on the first floor (which he had earlier said was unavailable). We refused and left.
After we got home my husband called the manager at the Mojave BVI to get a refund but after a few angry words he hung up on my husband.
The place was rundown and the customer service was terrible. Stay away from this hotel.
