“Very Nice experience.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013

Our stay at this hotel in November 2012 was very nice. We know its been awhile but it is better late than never. It is centrally located at the heart of Modesto's downtown and is walking distance to restaurants, museum, and more.

From the time we checked in to the time we checked out, everything just went very smoothly. Kathy at the front desk was absolutely wonderful. My husband had to attend to some business so I was on my own for 2 days and Kathy made sure I was okay and help me keep my day in Modesto as interesting as possible. Mr, Siefken, the general manager was awesome, he made sure that all our request was met. And yes the cookies were a nice touch.

Our room was absolutely wonderful it has a very spacious bedroom, nice living room and a dining room. we have 2 bathrooms, tub and a nice bar and you get free bottled water. It was clean and comfortable and is situated at the 10th floor at the back end of the hotel so the train tooting its horn is muted down. I guess the train came first before the hotel so there is nothing anybody can do about it. At any rate we did have a goodnight sleep.

We also rate the hotel based on their response to emergencies. While we were there the water pipes broke so there was no water in our rooms. But management & staff made sure we get to have our showers and use bathrooms. They gave us a nice room to use for the time being until all is resolved. The situation was handled properly and appropriately. That was a plus!

The staff are very courteous, friendly, attentive and always willing to serve. they made sure we have everything we wanted in the room and that we are satisfied. The made our stay such a pleasure!

Our breakfast was very good and we enjoyed it,

Overall, we feel that this is the best Modesto has to offer.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the highest floor back end of the hotel.

I have been coming to this hotel almost every month for the last 10 years for business with a group of people. Excellent value and the best hotel in town. The one negative is breakfast buffet is over priced. For the location, I also wish the parking is free.

Dear Guest:

Thank you for your recent review on Trip Advisor. We appreciate your kind words regarding our hotel and all of the services that we offer. Unfortunately, there are limited parking spaces in the Downtown area and since we do not own the parking structure across the street we do have a nominal charge for parking. We hope that this not discourage you from future visits to our hotel while in Modesto.

Sincerely,
Kole Siefken

There's not much choice in Modesto, but this hotel is clean, comfortable and in a good location. If you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs to keep out the trains that go through town all night. The breakfast buffet has good oatmeal and fresh fruit for those of us who don't like to start the day with meat and baked goods, and the service (not the coffee) at the restaurant in the mornings is great. Parking is a bit problematic and seems expensive for Modesto. The garage is across a busy 4-lane street and still costs $11/night. Valet parking costs $16/day.

Dear Guest:

Thank you for your response on Trip Advisor. Thank you for your kind words about our hotel and especially ther restaurant. Being a Downtown location we have to rent the parking spaces from the City for self parking so i usually suggest using valet when coming to the hotel. We appreciate your business and hope that you continue to use our hotel when visiting Modesto.

People running up and down halls making a lot of noise. Security was not able to quiet them. Extremely loud train passing by and honking every hour. The bathroom had moldy grout and the wall paper was peeling off of the walls.

Dear Guest:

Thank you for your response on Trip Advisor. We appreciate your business and bringing up your concerns about our hotel. We are scheduled for a bathroom renovation later this year and we are working with City and State authorities to reduce the amount of train noise. We are in hopes that when visiting Modesto again you will give us a second chance to impress you.

This place represents itself as pet-friendly except there are zero guest rooms on the ground floor (requiring a trip on the elevator to get outside is not pet-friendly). I requested a room on the ground floor. When my confirmation came back it showed that I would be offered a room on a high floor. I responded to that and re-iterated that I wanted a ground floor room. That was acknowledged but only when I arrived did I find that there actually are none. Also, the air conditioner did not cool or even circulate the air in the room. It was stifling all night. The window only opens partially and it was hot outside anyway, so that was not an option. On the upside: I got a cookie on arrival and I found I had forgotten to pack toothpaste which they willingly provided.

Dear Guest:

Thank you for writing a review on Trip Advisor. We are very sorry for the mix up regarding the ground floor room. Unfortunately, we do not have any rooms on the ground floor to offer guests. We will also be sure to check our air conditioning system to ensure that this does not happen with any other guests. We are currently working on pet treats to offer to guests travelling with pets so in future travels to Modesto. We hope that we can earn your business back to our hotel.

High standard hotel, with parking in front and great restaurant for breakfast and dinner, the price is not exactly cheap but fair for the service offered.
I stayed there for 10 days for working reasons so I can not advise a family but I can assure that the rooms are large and clean and the staff courteous and pleasant. Also excellent bar with good cocktails and good beer.
Single notice to consider is the proximity to the railroad that can sometimes disturb with the passage of some night trains.
However, to recommend and try.

Room Tip: Ask for a rear room, opposite from rail road to sleep better.

Had our son's rehearsal dinner here and hotel staff was wonderful to work with. Hotel is lovely, rooms very comfortable and pool, fitness room great. Only thing missing is a working espresso machine in the restaurant. Nearest coffee house is 17 blocks away.
