Not fancy just good fish and chips! I'm on the fence about whether or not this is an appropriate "date" location..kinda greasy feel... definately not pretentious

“Consistently good seafood in downtown Menlo Park”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2007

Great place for fish and chips and other seafood basics like clam chowder, cioppino, and shrimp Louie. Fairly good quality food served without pretense in relaxed atmosphere. Order at counter with fast-food type seating. Lots of folks rave about this place, but I think the only reason it's a stand-out is that there are so few fish/chip places between San Jose and San Francisco. The food is OK, but just a little too high priced. I paid $9.49 for a 2-piece halibut and chips. The halibut was fairly fresh and tasty, but also rather dry and not served very hot. If you have the time, you're better off going to Chris's Fish & Chips (209 1st St., Los Altos 94022) or Bay Fish & Chips (826 W. El Camino Real, Sunnyvale 94087).
