On the evening of March 14, 2015 I had a very enjoyable dinner at Carpaccio Restaurant in Menlo Park. Carpaccio Restaurant is a refined old world place with fine table linen and corresponding napkins and book type menus and wine, beer and cocktail lists. The ambience was also old world, with the walls adored with art work, artsy posters and mirrors. I had the. Fortune to be seated facing a large mirror. As the night settled in and lighting on the walls came on and started hitting the art, posters and the mirror, the room came a glow with such a festive atmosphere. The lighting tied it all together. Another reason the night seemed so special was the wait staff. I was given attentive, friendly, professional service.throughtout the evening. My beverage selection of the evening was a glass of jean- Luc Colombo Ros'e ( not sweet ) Dry Cape Bleue 2013. Next a basket of sour dough bread and butter with a cup of oil/vinegar for dipping. It was served complimentary. For my starter, ordered Bombetta di Parmigiano. It was a Parmesan Soufflé served warm with baby spinach and arugula in a champagne walnut oil vinaigrette. I have never had anything like this dish. It was quite delicious. Other ingredients found in this dish where the smallest asparagus spires that I have ever seen and sliced baby pear tomatoes. For a real taste sensation try to get all of the ingredients in your fork all at the same time. For my entree I selected Agrello al Forno. It consisted of a roasted full baby rack of lamb served with roasted vegetables in a red currant mint sauce. The lamb was succulent and cooked to a turn but you will have to use hands to get every last morsel off the bones. The vegetables were sauced and spiced with optimum flavor. For my ending I selected Gelato by Fiorello's Ice Cream. There was about five to six varieties and I chose spomomi. The spomomi had a chocolate and a mocha or cocoa taste with a few pieces of dried fruit mixed in.The gelato was not an overly sweet. While I have had better gelato this one was creamy and good. Carpaccio is not cheap but if you want great Italian and pleasing ambience , I can not think of many better restaurants. I gladly recommend Carpaccio Restaurant.
