Description: Left Bank is an authentic French brasserie celebrating Mediterranean Cuisine. Located in Menlo Park's charming downtown, Left Bank transports guests to a quaint brasserie in Paris. Open since 1998 and completely re-modeled in 2008, Left Bank offers a casual, charming brasserie setting where diners feast upon classic southern French cuisine. Our outdoor sidewalk cafe seating evokes a lively European atmosphere and is the perfect place for just an appetizer and beer or a 3-course meal with a beautiful bottle of wine. Whether it's at our sidewalk table, the gorgeous glass-walled bar, or in the casually elegant main dining room, you'll enjoy a fun & french experience. Thirteen years of working with local organic farms allows us to bring you the best seasonal ingredients available. Chef de Cuisine Steven Catalano offers an always changing menu focused on Southern French Cuisine.

“Great dinner with friends”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2012

We had a lovely meal with friends here recently. The service was excellent & professional. There were many great looking choices on the menu. Everyone enjoyed their dinners, and treated ourselves to a creme brule for dessert. The restaurant is located on Santa Cruz Ave, which is fun to walk on and visit some of the shops along the way.

“Nice dinner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2012

We had time before a baseball game and wandered to Left Bank when we finished banking at BofA. We were seated immediately and the server was very attentive. We have eaten heer several times before and found the food as delicious as ever. My wife's fish was cooked to perfection. Will be back again soon.

“salade niçoise- my favorite- was great today”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2012

always a good standby- waiter gave good service and my salad was great...the funny thing is that the different people in th kitchen prepare it differently almost every time we are there. Today was perfect.

“Noisy, bustling, and average food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2012

The Left Bank attempts to deliver the same dining experience as you might get at a French brasserie. Although the food resembles what you'd expect to get in such an establishment (steak frites, onion soup, toulouse sausages, etc.), it's crowded and noisy - at least it was on the Friday night that we visited. The tables are very close together to provide you with the chance to hear conversations in stereo (but not your own). The food was mixed - scallops were good but the steak/frites was just OK (small tough steak, watery peppercorn sauce, mass-produced frites similar to McDonalds' best). The service was disappointing as our server clearly just wanted to get done with us as quickly as possible. The wine menu contains lots of French wines, including some bargains. The white wine from Nimes is described as having some hints of leeches - fortunately the wine when brought demonstrated no evidence of blood-sucking invertebrates. Our server tried to reassure us that "leeches" is really a French word of a certain dialect. Like some of the service, this just didn't make sense or hit the mark and summarized the entire visit.

“Delicious French”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2012

More a bistro than an elegant French dining establishment, it still has elegance of cloth napkins and lovely dining (with a few tables outside which works most days of the year). Hearty and delicious French food. A bit expensive, but not for a different experience. Has a good liquor bar, but its selection of French beer is always wanting. Lots of theme specials throughout the year.
