“Enjoyed our return visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2013

This was our second visit. We choose Red Cottage Inn and Suites as it was convenient to family and friends and because we enjoyed our first stay. We were not disappointed this time. Our room was located on the ground floor adjacent to the swimming pool, with direct access to the pool area. Although we didn't spend a great amount of time in the room during the day, having a patio area by the pool to take out coffee or breakfast was a pleasant bonus. The rooms have been recently refurbished and were well maintained.

Our room was big by UK standard and well well equipped. We particularly enjoyed morning coffee from the Keurig coffee maker in the room.

Breakfast was included in the room rate and was ideal for our needs. Breakfast could be taken in the small breakfast room, or eaten in the room if preferred.

The staff at the suites were always helpful, particularly Yhan on the front desk.

Free wireless internet access was a bonus and helped us keep in touch with friends and confirm arrangements.

In all our second visit to the Suites was as good as our first and we hope to return again.

Room Tip: We preferred the poolside rooms and asked for one when booking. This request was fulfilled. Light...

This is a lovely small motel if you need to be near Stanford University. It is set way back from El Camino, in Menlo park and so is much quieter than the other properties it competes with, most of which are right on the street. It is very near good restaurants and has well appointed rooms and baths. Beds are excellent and have nice linens. Our room (115) was located in a section of the motel that has little private patios, which was a lovely amenity. Breakfast is the usual simple spread, but of high quality, good quality coffee, fresh baked goods, fresh fruit, hardboiled eggs cooked in house, assortment of cold and hot cereal. We will stay here again for sure next time we need to be in the area. Better than past choices.

Room Tip: If it is not during the summer, when it would be nice to be oerlooking the pool, ask for a room in t...

Very good value would be the words that describe this restaurant. On an area that is full of noisy inns and super expensive hotels it is quite nice to have a hotel with decent rates and full of nice touches.

The hotel as other, reviewers have mentioned, does not look very nice from the outside. In fact when arrived I thought "Am I going to sleep on barracks?". But the room interior is very cozy and comfy. Rooms are big. Many rooms have patio. There is a pool too! The rooms have a big TV, a coffee machine, air conditioning, fridge and even a microwave.

The breakfast is ok. Breakfast-addicts will find it poor as it lacks all the "bangers and mash"-like stuff which I do not miss by the way. The only issue I had was that the bathroom's door got locked at 6.30 AM. I went to reception and I had a guy at 7.30 AM fixed. Quickly enough to have a morning shower before working. Apart from that the other bad thing is the noise. You will not hear any cars, but the room's walls are really thin. I spent all the week jet-lagged so it didn't mind it much, but my room neighbours used to wake up at 5 with the radio set very loud. That can annoy you if you get unlucky with the room location. The same happened with the fridge which was very loud and I had to disconnect it.

So, in summary, if I ever come back to this area I will be standing again in this hotel, unless there is a better deal elsewhere which I doubt as this is very good value for money as per the area standards. Definitely recommend it.

Room Tip: There is nice rooms with patio.

Re done, looks new and fresh, accommodations very good and all rooms on the ground level.
Light Breakfast, pool and Internet.
Fair rate too.
I would go back. Call a couple of days ahead, always booked.

Difficult to find right off the road. Everybody who hasn't been there before pulls into the new office building out front. They should put a sign on the front of the office facing the road so that you see it when you pull in. Concerned at first, but pleasantly surprised. The rooms are very nice! The breakfast area is small but we never lacked a table on any morning. Light breakfast, but quite adequate. No black tea! What's with that! The sitting area out back is great! Very comfortable and quiet. Commuter trains out back but we rarely heard them and we were in a room closest to them. Office staff need better training. No smiles and usually short with people. We wondered about the girl who flew in in her Mustang every morning parking in the handicapped spot. The maintenance staff were very friendly and accommodating. Maybe they should run the front desk. Some of this may sound negative, but we would stay there again. Other places nearby seemed very run down and/or right on the busy El Camino Real. The location is very close to everything local of interest.

Room Tip: The suite may sound great, but it's expensive!

Thank you for your review. We have taken note of your comments and rest assured that we are working our best to address all issues. We definitely agree that black tea should always be an option for breakfast and we do offer it but unfortunately our suppliers are sold out when you are at the hotel. We will be updating the office area and that will include better signage for the hotel. We do apologize for the shortcomings of our Front Desk Team and that we constantly do trainings on all our staff to provide our guests with the best customer service. This is certainly not the experience that I would have wanted you to leave with and can only assure you that we will address this with the team. We look forward in welcoming you back.

This is a small motel in a great location for doing business in Menlo Park. I stayed in their suite in August which has a sliding door off the living room onto a small private patio at the edge of the pool. The living room is nicely appointed with a gas fireplace, flat screen tv, a couch and two aimchairs. At one end of the living room is a niclely sized work desk and a kitchenette cabinet with refrigerator and microwave. The bathroom is large with double sinks and a double sized jacuzzi. The bedroom has another flatscreen tv and has a sliding door opening onto a patio walled on the other three sides by high privacy wooden fence and has a small table and two chairs for outside dining. The suite was very clean and the bed was comfortable. I would recommend this hotel and plan to return on future business trips. I did not try the breakfast but enjoyed the cookies in the evening. I was able to shop nearby at Trader Joes to stock up the refrigerator.

We booked the Red Cottage based on TripAdvisor, and were not disappointed. Clean. Excellent quality breakfast. Pretty pool. Cute outdoor reading spot. Cookies in the afternoon. The room was tight with a rollaway bed, but most are.
