This was my first time visiting Mendocino, and what an experience it was! I was warmly greeted by Joan, one of the inn owners, and was privileged to be taken on a personal tour of the property, including the lovely herb gardens and animal areas. My room had a breathtaking view of the Pacific Coast from its balcony! The bed was very comfortable and I've never slept with so many pillows in my life! It was great! I really love and appreciate how aware Jeff and Joan, as well as the inn staff, are of our impact on the environment; they make every effort, while sustaining quality, to make their service as eco-friendly as possible. And the breakfast...that was truly amazing! I never realized vegan could be so delicious! I had a wonderful time and am already planning my return trip!

This the 4th time that we stayed there. Once again it was a great stay. Very relaxing, easy going stay. The people at the desk at check-in were nice and very helpful. It was nice to get to the room and have the bottle of comp wine on the table. It was the same as every other time, a wonderful time.

We were part of a group meeting for business in Mendocino, and the only ones booked into the Stanford Inn. We feel like we won the big drawing. The facilities were immaculate and complete, and the staff made us feel very much at home. The grounds are peaceful, quiet and very much a part of the surrounding natural beauty. Dining in Raven's, their on site restaurant, is completely vegetarian and an unexpected treat. Delicious! They encourage guests to bring their pets, so there are lots of new four legged friends to meet.

The owners told us they have been doing this for 32 years, and they still love it. Good for them...and good for us!

Our room in the Big River lodge cost $300 a night, but it really was excellent. The room was fairly large with a wood fireplace and a deck. The bathroom was medium sized with a standard tub/shower combo. Our King-sized bed was very comfortable.

Our room on the ground floor wasn't touted as having an ocean view, but we could see a little silver of blue over the treetops out the back window. The lodge is on a hillside, so we did have a pleasant view of the scenery. even without much Ocean.

The room was well-prepared for our arrival, with magazines, books, bathrobes, umbrella (which really came in handy, firewood, a personalized welcome note, and even food and water bowls for our dogs.

The room includes breakfast at The Raven restaurant on site. The restaurant is vegetarian, but for breakfast that just means they don't have sausage or bacon. There are plenty of egg dishes, plus pancakes and waffles. We had two meals there, and all were judged excellent by our party except for the French toast. The service was pleasant, but very, very slow.
