“Laid Back and Beautiful”

We stayed in the Garden Cottage...had a little wood burning stove for chilly nights. You can hear the roar of the surf all night long, and an easy walk to the beach, which is spectacular. I am Gluten Free and the hostess made a phenomenal GF coffee cake for breakfast. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Second time I've stayed at the Alegria B&B on treks to Mendocino. Possibly the best run of the lodging choices in the area. Hotel is unique with a variety of rooms and suites with individual personalities. Stayed in the Treehouse room the first time ... rustic large suite-type room in its own small cottage with great fireplace. This time I stayed with a friend in the Village Farm Retreat, a large cottage with a couple of rooms located a couple of blocks up the street from the main Inn. Room was a bargain (in Mendocino prices) with two floors - a comfortable living area down with small kitchen and fold out bed if needed, and a cozy attic bedroom upstairs. Steps quite steep, if that's an mobility obstacle, as is the use of the downstairs fold-out futon for those with the need for better back support. The Inn itself is located closest of any lodging in the Village itself to the ocean. Includes a hearty morning breakfast and the use of an ocean-view spa. Owners are experienced managers who do an excellent job of working with folks wanting a unique Mendocino experience.

Room Tip: Mid-week stays through March have huge discounts. Make sure to check their special deals - some of...

Every minute of our spontaneous stay was luxurious and special. The delicious organic and gluten free breakfast items were so appreciated and unexpected. The owners of the hotel were lovely, helpful and friendly. The property is on a beautiful bluff with incredible views with a private path down to the ocean and river. We stayed in the upstairs unit of the property across the street (Raku House) which was a really great size for a small family (queen and two twin beds with a sitting area and lots of board games for the kids.) We will definitely be back. We loved this magical place.

Room Tip: They are all fabulous!

A lovely stay. Hospitable host, comfy, clean room in the house across the street from the main building and cottages, five minutes from beach (down steps either through the property or just along the street by the church). No real view of the ocean - just visible through one window. Little garden with benches outside the front door, colourful. We stayed in the top room (1 double, 2 singles) and a single room downstairs. No TV (nice :-), microwave, fridge in bathroom, pleasant sitting area, a very relaxed and pleasant stay in a large and comfortable room. Not five stars because the breakfast was adequate but limited and served in our room rather than in the main house with its pleasant view over the bay. Very good value all in all.

Room Tip: We had the top room in Raku house - one double and two single - very good for a family with younger...

Recent two night stay in Mendocino- what a nice surprise.

Awesome owners/proprietors- Elaine and Eric. They really wanted to make everything perfect. Great view from our cottage- high tide heading into the cove was wonderful to watch.
Breakfast was delicious. We especially appreciated having a "breakfast to go" on our last day- Elaine arranged scones/fruit and coffee to be ready before the regular breakfast hours for our early departure. Cottage was quirky but fun!

I mentioned quirky- it was a funky, fun cottage with a wood burning stove. It is not the Ritz but it's not meant to be. A little small (we had two large suitcases) and a tad worn but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

Room Tip: Cove Cottage is the closest to the beach and most private. (has a window in the shower to see throug...

This place is really nice and rather elegant
We got a very cute room with a small terrace overlooking the garden, the beach and the ocean
The walk on the nearby beach at dusk was priceless
The hot tub in the evening was a special treat
All is almost perfect
Helpful and kind staff
Great place
Worth the price a bit high
