“Good food, gluten-free items”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

We had a delicious lunch outside on their deck. All four of us were pleased with their choices. They even have a gluten-free dessert.

“Great food and great atmosphere!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013 via mobile

We decided to eat here after the front desk at our bed and breakfast recommended it! It is such a cute building and very cozy inside.
I love how all dishes are made with local ingredients! We had the clam chowder, mussels, pasta and catch of the day - all delicious! We took some chocolate tart to go which was yummy as well! Glad this place was recommended to us!

“OK but pretty average food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

Place was very busy with no free tables which is a good sign but squeezed in by friendly staff after a short wait and a beer. Ordered the calimari and then a special of moroccan lamb. The calimari was OK; lots of it and tasty - it tasted pickled and wasn't what I was expecting.
The lamb was a disappointment - this was a large grilled cutlet of lamb, cooked to order but little taste of Morocco....spicing was more like any grill spice covering. Where was the cumin, coriander, ginger etc etc? Mash and beets were fine but presentation of both courses did not seem to be a consideration. So overall it filled a hungry stomach but could have been better.

“Consistently OUTSTANDING!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

We LOVE this restaurant....this is about our 5th or 6th time dining here and each time has been wonderful. The wait staff seems to change quite a bit, but the food is wonderful. Earthy, flavorful, nutrient dense. Several gluten-free options, delicious salads, a tremendous dessert menu which changes frequently. Lots of local, organic ingredients which I am a HUGE FAN of....

This place fills up quickly and locals LOVE it! I would recommend calling ahead; sometimes you'll get lucky. When the weather is warm, the outdoor patio is extra special. There is nothing fancy about it, but good, honest food presented in a quaint old place. We have been to other restaurants in the area, but we always go here when we don't want bad surprises. We're just hungry, want to have some good conversation, relax, and enjoy the meal. We saw many people enjoying the Dim Sum; it's a local favorite!

The steamed mussels are incredibly wonderful--the broth is something to be soaked up with lots of bread! The Big River Salad, I had mine with grilled chicken, is very satisfying. The lime vinaigrette is GF and very flavor-filled. The healing blow is also GF---it will leave you feeling so 'nutri-fied,' Excellent choice!!

The brazilian fish stew has a thai influence, infused with lots of spices in a coconut broth. We also had the roasted chicken with garlic mashed potatoes that was simply luscious! There are enough choices to entice you and make you want to come back to try something else. Save room for one of their chalkboard desserts and a steamy cup of coffee before heading out into the foggy night....

Enjoy!

“mendo cafe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

chowder was superb. soup of the day was suprb and salas were awesome. the thai burrito left something to be desired but was ok when I took burrito wrapper off food. thai burrito reminiscent of old hippie food, chowder best outside of New England and as good as any anywhere..
