Cafe Beaujolais lived up to its reputation when we had dinner here recently for the first time. My daughter and I moaned our way through the meal.
I can definitely recommend what we had: a heavenly spinach salad appetizer with almond-crusted goat cheese and bacon (we split it, which was a good decision--kind of a big portion on its own); the "duck two ways" (a falling-off-the-bone-tender leg and a sliced boneless breast in blackberry au jus, with a wonderful spatezle); the roast chicken with balsamic grapes and polenta; and the coconut cream pie with a chocolate macaroon crust.
Our server was also excellent. Beaujolais is on my personal best-restaurants list.
(A small note about the restrooms: they're kind of funky, located out the front door, down some steps, and along the side of the building--surprising for a restaurant of this caliber. If it's stormy in Mendocino, I wouldn't want to venture out to the ladies' room, especially in nice clothes)
