Blackberry Inn is where my boyfriend and I took refuge before and after camping at the three day Sierra Nevada World Music Festival nearby. The Innkeeper is very warm and hospitable. Beautiful grounds and flowers are great! It truly is a sanctuary and very romantic, we will surely be back.

We had our wedding weekend in Mendocino at the MacCallum House (see other review). This place gave additional options to our guests that couldn't afford the higher priced inns in Mendowcino town. It's only a short 1 min drive into town - so it was no issues for our guests staying there. Also, they were all very happy with the accommodations - only said positive things about their room.

I also stayed here for my visits prior to my wedding, and days before my wedding. Infact, we had our entire family stay the day before our wedding event. The rooms are quaint and clean - with loads of character. Each having it's own name and theme - wonderful for kids.

Wonderful views from each room of the ocean. Although a bit far away, still very beautiful and lush.

I would highly recommend staying here if you are on a budget - or if you just want a different place to stay for a few days to get a different flavor of Mendocino.

Friendly staff, excellent service, and reasonable priced. Highly recommend it!

  • Liked — It's quaint rooms, and peaceful surroundings.
  • Disliked — A bit damp smelling in rooms. Common in this area.

We came up to Mendocino for a romantic getaway. We cannot be more pleased with our stay at the Blackberry Inn. We stayed in the Sherrif's room and it was fabulous. We had a great ocean view from our bathtub, sliding doors and great fire burning. The room and grounds were immaculate. The hotel was a an old western town theme which was very quaint. The staff was friendly and it was quiet which was just what we were looking for.
In the am we had a basket of homemade muffins and fruit that went great with the coffee and watching the ocean. It set the tone for our day.
We will return here in the Spring and stay in this exact room.

Thank you to the staff for a wonderful weekend!!!

We were very happy with our experience with this hotel. After enduring rainy weather and a sub par exoerience of the town, curling up in front of the fireplace in our little cottage made everything better. Also, when I forgot my jacket in our room after we had checked out and left. the staff was very helpful and mailed it out to me the same day. Thanks!

Ok. I admit... I was turned off just a tiny bit as we drove up to see some very "Disneyland Mainstreet" sorts of repro housing... but the price was good and they take dogs. It ended up being a little gem and we intend to return.

Wonderful getaway for us -- and for our little dog. They explained the rules on check in. (No dogs left in the rooms or in your car... fair enough.) Lots of grounds to take nice walks (with or without the little dog.) They left some doggie treats in the room. (only 2 rooms take pets... "Gen Merch" (1 bed & fireplace- ocean view from the comfy chairs) or "Land Office" (2 beds, no fireplace but you can see the ocean from the beds.)

We felt very welcome and our every request was met with a smile. (more wood... check-out time...) They left a rose and a small bottle of local wine in the room. Very clean. Good heater for night. Clean windows that open for day. spacious room. Quiet, quiet, quiet.

One thing we appreciated was the way they used good local products (such as the shade-grown locally roasted coffee) in the room. The continental breakfast situation is different from any we've encountered, with the basket in the room when you arrive (homemade cookies, breakfast breads, various fruit) but it's just different-- not bad. One little bit of protein would have made it perfect. (cheese??)

It is across the highway from the town of Mendocino, but just a 3 minute drive to get there. It's a sliver of a distant view of the ocean, but still just gorgeous... especially at sunset.

We loved the Blackberry Inn and will return.
