My wife and I were looking for a place on the west coast to stay and celebrate our 30th anniversary. After reading the reviews on TripAdvisor we decided to book our stay at the Blackberry Inn. We called and made our reservation for the Sheriff Office room. The office staff asked if we were going to be there for any specific reason and I told her we were celebrating our 30th anniversary. She told me they would like to give us a bottle of local wine in our room.
Upon arrival we checked into the office and received the key to our room. The room was exactly as pictured on their website (http://blackberryinn.biz/). It was very clean and the decor was quite nice. The wine, bottle opener and wine glasses were on the table, along with an anniversary card for us from the staff. The carpet was plush and the furnishings were in good order. Our room was only one of a few that had a back porch area. It was a concrete patio (10'x12') with two chairs and a table.
Each day the cleaning staff would leave a basket with two cookies, two muffins (all home baked and quite delicious) and four pieces of good fruit (bananas, peaches, kiwi, oranges and plums). They would also leave us coffee, tea and hot chocolate packs for the hot water/coffee maker in the room.
The towels were very plush and the shower was clean and had plenty of water pressure and hot water. The hand soap bars were very nice and big.
There was one room that butted up to ours, yet the only time I heard any noise from them was when I was in the shower and heard them turn on their shower.
By turning the swivel chairs to face the sliding glass door we were able to sit indoors and enjoy the view of the ocean. When the tide was up we could hear the breakers as they crashed on the shore. The evening and morning fog was nice, as was the cool temperature. We had left 100+ degree temperature at home.
If there was anything lacking it was that the grass area beyond our patio was all dead. It appeared that some work had been going on in the area.
The wireless internet connection was great. We have Verizon Wireless cell phone service and found that we were unable to receive a phone signal in the Blackberry Inn area (Can you hear me now? Guess not!). Once we were on Hwy 1 the signal was fine.
We would return to the Blackberry Inn again if we find ourselves in the area.
