“Cozy & charming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2013

We stayed here with a group of friends and had a great time. Fortunately, the weather was sunny. The staff (Melissa & Lou in particular) are very efficient and accommodating. The room was comfortable, quiet, very clean and affordable. Would stay here again. If you're looking for resort-type accommodations, look elsewhere.

We were really hoping for a good experience after the TA reviews but it was just good... Less expensive than other places and wonderful fireplace but so foggy that I'm glad we didn't pay for an ocean front view... Breakfast was 2 muffins in a ziplock bag in your room... Wifi was non-existent...

We are very sorry about your experience with the WIFI. We recently changed over to a higher speed connection and have been experiencing a number of issues. Though it can't make up for your experience... we have ironed out the issues and are running at full speed now.

We do offer a basket of home-baked goodies for our guests, but not a breakfast. We are an Inn rather than a B&B because of this distinction.

Thank you for your review. I do apologize that our WIFI was down for repairs when you visited.

Last weekend, we spent the night at the Blackberry Inn. We were extremely pleased with the service and room. We were traveling from the East Bay and were not able to meet our arrival time but the staff there was understanding and accommodating. We stayed in the romantic and cozy Sheriff room. Once we arrived, we were greeted with a number of personal touches. We were given some nice baked goods and a bottle of wine. Our room had a jacuzzi tub for two and a prepared fireplace for us to use. It was the perfect romantic getaway for busy parents. The drive there was breathtakingly scenic and the environment around the Inn is serene. We just wished we could have stayed longer. We plan to return soon. Lou & Melissa are wonderful hosts and made our stay memorable and sweet.

Room Tip: The Sheriff had everything a couple needs.

Last week we spent a couple of nights at the Blackberry Inn, a short distance (across the highway) from Mendocino village. We stay in Mendocino at least once a year for a big event we put on up there and have decided Blackberry is the best value in that beautiful but pricey little town. It has a super kitschy outdoor motif -- a wild west town with rooms named Saloon, Sheriff etc -- surprising in Mendocino's extreme anti-kitsch environment. This may be what keeps it affordable. The rooms are large and super clean with many amenities like microwave, fridge etc and the buildings sit up on a knoll affording the best light and some ocean views. Our room was $125 and about three times as large as the tiny Victorian inn rooms we've had before in that area for that price. Lots of parking right next to rooms. Only negatives are that you're not right in the village (it's about a 5 minute drive) and the continental breakfast isn't the greatest. But it is a great value and a nice place to stay. Also, during the summer a lot of the more quaint places in the village require a two night stay, which this place does not.

This is a very charming place to stay, a bit away from Mendocino city centre. For us, it was a perfect stay to relax on our road trip. The room was spacious with a refrigerator and microwave. There is also lots of room to sit outside in the garden and have a nice talk with the very friendly staff. For the rest, there is not much to do, but a short drive will bring you to Mendocino city.
We had dinner in Raven's restaurant which was excellent (we are no vegans, but wanted to try it out). Aside from the food, also the location of the restaurant is stunning. There is also an inn there, though a bit more expensive in comparison with this inn.

This is a wonderful, small, off the beaten track and charming location for you to enjoy the Mendocino-Fort Bragg Community. Somewhat secluded from Mendocino Village, but near enough for convenient visits to the Mendocino Village for walking, restaurants and trips to the local market. Our hosts, Melissa and Lou, couldn't have been more accommodating and hospitable. They really want you to enjoy your stay with them. It's rare to find such great accommodations being managed by such pleasant people. Being seasoned travelers, it was a special treat for my wife and I to have enjoyed the ambiance, cleanliness, comfort, privacy, natural beauty and charm offered by The Blackberry Inn and it's Cottages this past September. We plan to return during Spring, 2014 to re-experience it's magic. Don't miss it!

Room Tip: You can't go wrong by asking Melissa for her advise on your choice.

We have been staying here off and on over 15 years and never regret it! The managers are friendly and there to make your stay as special as you want it to be. Quiet, yes you have limited cell service but how great it is to be able to put all those things down and truly relax and enjoy your time there. We had my daughter-inlaws wedding there on the property 3 years ago and the staff was great with the little extra touches! Each room so uniquely different and wonderful views of the ocean and the wildlife. And your pets are loved too!
We will continue coming here as long as we are physically able!

Room Tip: you can't pick a bad room and you can't hear through the walls either. Very Private.
