We took a trip with my parents and my girlfriend to Mendocino and spent two nights in the Storybook cottage owned by the Blackberry Inn.

The Storybook cottage is a separate house in forest with its own garden. We arrived at the Inn first, to check in and were welcomed with a great fruit and pastry basket. We got the keys and drove to the cottage. The cottage looked great. We had amazing two days. It was one of our best vacations. The jakuzi in the master bedroom was also nice. You feel like this cottage is owned by you. It is such an amazing place. There is more to this place than just the amanities. This is almost a magical place. We loved it, hope you do too.

I have never stayed in an American bed and breakfast before and I did not know what to expect. From arriving to a very warm welcome, to admiring the beautiful grounds, enjoying a great night's sleep in a four poster bed to eating every bit of a wonderful breakfast...........it was all first class. Stayed for 2 nights and my only regret is that could not stay longer. The owner was charming and took enormous trouble over everything. Absolutely 5*****

We feel so pampered each time we stay at The Blackberry Inn. The first thing noticed is the attention to detail. Fresh cut flowers, fluffy bright white towels, spa quality soaps and lotions, art adorning the walls. The beds are extremely comfortable and cozy. Watching the fire while we drift off to sleep with the calming sound of the ocean is priceless. In the morning the yummy basket of goodies sitting on our table is quite welcomed, as is the coffee brewing in our pot . It is nice that there isn't a breakfast hall, it would be difficult to leave such a lovely room so early in the day. The large oval bathtub is very inviting after a day on the beach and walking through the redwood forests. We have our favorite room, however the wonderful managers, Derek and Debbie, are always thrilled and proud to show all the other rooms when they are unoccupied. We travel to the beautiful town of Mendocino often, so we look forward to staying in their other rooms as well. Which ever room you choose, you will also enjoy the charming grounds. The gardens and architecture of The Blackberry Inn are truely unique. Thankfully, there is an outdoor sitting area in the midst of it all for quiet reflection, a cup of coffee, a glass of wine, or some peaceful reading. We look forward to our next visit.

  • Liked — The room itself.
  • Disliked — Sometimes it is foggy so close to the coastline.

an extremely nice place to stay for a reasonable price in mendocino -- very cute motif -- quiet heater (from someone who hates noisy a/c's) --- only thing was you couldn't walk to town -- but no biggie, parking never seemed to be a problem -- no breakfast, but freshed baked goodies in your room the nite before -- we just took them to the beach and had our own little b&b (beach & breakfast) -- very friendly folks, quiet location with nice views especially at sunset

Our Blackberry Inn stay was the beginning of an Oregon Coast, Hwy 1 excursion and it was a good start. The motel is quaint and we had the Millinary room with a great view and a private patio. The private spa tub also has the same view. We agree with other positive reviews, and the only complaint was that we didn't have air conditioning and it happened to be warmer than usual. That wouldn't have been too bad but the room didn't have a fan. We bought a cheap fan and all was well.
