Ten of us, including four small children, stayed two nights in the McCloud Mercantile Hotel. We were greeted warmly by Lonnie and Joan who graciously gave us a tour of the rooms and made us feel like family. Lonnie even invited us down to the restaurant after hours for lovely conversations. The rooms are drenched with sun, accented by hardwood floors, and rich, tasteful colors and decor. There wasn't a single detail in the rooms we didn't want to take back home: the tile, the shades, the fabrics, the towels, and the modern sinks. I was more impressed by the design of this place even more than the Cannery Pier in Astoria. The breakfast was the best we had during our three-week vacation, and the views of Mt. Shasta outside of the Charles Miller room and the Shasta Winter room were stunning. Because of the wildfires, it wasn't even safe for our children to go outside, but we stayed a second night simply because we loved this place. It was the perfect setting for our family to relax in a luxurious atmosphere, the kind of place we will visit again.
