No sense reiterating all the great reviews, other than to say they are all true. For our two night stay in mid Oct, Nora, took good care of us. The only reason we couldn't eat everything at breakfast was because Nora made sure there was plenty of everything for everybody. Nothing went to waste though as it only took a couple minutes for the deer to come in and finish what we couldn't. Try to get there before dark the first night because it's a little hard to find that first time. They really take care of you here and we'll definitely be back.

From the moment we arrived, highland house felt special. It's extremely rural, we saw deer on the lawn in the mornings... The fawn must only have been about 5 weeks old. Hummingbirds abound, hovering at the bird table. Wild turkeys stroll around the garden. Our room was fantastic, lots of space, very clean, charming. Bed incredibly comfortable, we slept so well. Breakfast is a sociable affair, at a large dining table and is different every day. Nora's breakfasts are a veritable feast !! Loved every moment and we hope that we visit again someday. Thank you for looking after us so well :-)

It was out of the way but worth the drive! Very comfortable and cozy. The breakfast was great all three mornings. Nora, Lizzy and Michael all made us feel very much at home. There were sodas and snacks waiting for us. We loved the cookies and trail mix! We met interesting people at breakfast each morning and exchanged traveling experiences. The wildlife was fun to watch.
I appreciated being able to use the washer and dryer, since we were on a 2 week vacation. Overall a very nice experience!

If you don't like peace and quiet, wonders of nature, absolutely fabulous breakfast meals with fruits, breads....two or three types.....eggs, meats....two types....yogurt, juice, coffee, along with extra nuts and trail mixes, sodas, computer service, laundry and a quiet and clean room.....then this place is not for you. When we drove up, an envelope with our key inside was clipped to the mailbox at the front door. We just let ourselves in, did what was asked of us.....made ourselves at home.....and enjoyed refreshments on the patio. We watched the wild turkeys strut by while the hummingbirds buzzed in constant rhythm and dance overhead. The squirrels fussed at us while the deer looked on. The Highland House B&B is one hour door-to-door from Mariposa Grove, home of the giant sequoia trees, and the same in the opposite direction for Yosemite. We all gathered in the kitchen while Lizzie or Nora prepared our breakfast and Michael, the owner, shared some interesting sites to visit as we left for the next leg of our trip. It just doesn't get much better than this!
