“Rip off-NEVER STAY HERE”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2012

Stayed here for three nights and was the worst hotel we stayed in. Here are a few reasons why:
1. The name was confusing- the internet said monarch, the front said super 8, the shampoo and lotion said “made for best western”, the soap “made for super 8”, and when we called the front desk from our room they said “…best western front desk…”
2. The top of the hair dryer was broken and didn’t work
3. The free breakfast offered very little choices and included old bread (yuck) considering we paid a lot for the stay
4. The bed sheets had some stains and looked disgusting
5. Throughout our stay in the three nights it seems as if they never changed the sheets
6. They always keep toilets paper rolls between guests when its low (they don’t put new ones)
7. There`s not enough shampoo (only one small bottle for us four)
8. There weren’t enough pillows and they looked soft/worn out
9. The trash cans were never emptied
10. The elevator inspection permit expired on 2011 and look as if it was never cleaned and when it stopped on a floor it wasn’t level with the floor (trip hazardous)
11. Only one electronic room key (literally it was a regular key with a small circuit board on the end)
12. The vending machines were empty
I would never stay here nor recommend it to anyone else. One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with a hotel. Not worth all that money.

We stayed 7/7/12. Looks to have been a Super 8 before but I'd bet money they lost the franchise. Here's what we encountered:

1. Only 2 towels in room for 3 adults. The owners, who don't understand English that well, argued with me about getting an extra towel. Seriously??
2. Pillows are horrid. They argued with me and didn't want to provide just 2 extra pillows.
3. 2 queen beds barely fit into the small room. Comforter was being sucked into the A/C unit. No room to walk between the bed and the wall.
4. The room we had faced the west and it was quite hot. Room didn't cool off until late into the night. Bathroom never cooled off despite leaving the door open all night.
5. Hallway must have been 90 degrees.
6. Cookie crumbs still on floor from someone else.
7. Coffee pot not clean
8. Family member forgot which room we were in. She asked the male manager (spoke barely any English) which room it was and he handed her a printed copy that had every persons name on it who was staying there.
9. Only 1 key for the room and it wasn't the standard credit-card type key.
10. Blankets (not comforter) were from the 70's I'm sure. Pretty thin.
11. Hair dryer didn't work
12. Toilet seat wasn't on good so it moved around.
13. Place is still under construction with materials everywhere outside.
14. Inspection on elevator was out in 2011.

We have stayed in some pretty sorry hotels in our travels but this one is in the top 3 worst so far. The owners were EXTREMELY rude. They apparently own 2 other hotels in town bc we'd first stopped at the Best Western but they had no rooms so they referred us to one of their "sister" hotels in town. The lady at BW said the hotel was recently renovated and was very nice - what a joke. This place is a dump. I'd spend a night in the bed of my truck before I gave these people a dime of my money again. One of the worst rooms and worst experiences ever at a motel.

First of all, we couldn't find it because it now goes by the name of Super 8. We called on the phone for directions and the lady on the phone had diffficulty giving us directions. The place was under renovation and should not have been open yet. There was construction debris in the parking lot. The lobby looked like a low end motel and they hardly had any food for breakfast. The TV was not yet hooked up. We had been in CA for a week and it was the most expensive hotel we had stayed in and the worst. I wish I could have cancelled the room but it was too late.

Stayed here June 30th-huge mistake. We stopped at the tourist center and they called around and got us a deal on this room. We went directly to the hotel, where the owner told us another price and flat out lied to our faces about the price they just quoted. The owner is very rude. She has no business working in the hotel if they ever want to build their business. We had 2 towels in a room for 4 people, and when we asked for more the owner didn't want to give us any. The hotel is under renovation and our room didn't have a phone so if you needed anything from the desk, you have to go down and request it. Also, they advertise a pool but failed to tell us it had been shut down by the health inspector.

Stayed here 9th June 2012. Big mistake, hotel is under renovation, it was like a building site. Very bad that we were not informed that building works were in progress and given the oppurtunity to make alternative arrangements. Staff at reception (assume owners) were unpleaesant, unintelligable and downright rude. Before we went out to dinner our keys worked the doors, when we got back they didnt, they had to be re-programmed. Our room was clean, but no phone, alarm clock and dodgy plugs. The lift inspection had expired in August 2011 and the whole place was like a building site. Although breakfast was said to be included we were not offered any explanation as to why there was no facilities. This hotel should not be open yet, it is a big dissapointment. This was our 21st visit to the US and this was by far the worst hotel I have ever experienced. Until this hotel is finnished it should be avoided at any cost.
As a side the food down the road at Savourys is excellent

Room Tip: Don't choose any

on june 4th we spend 1 night at this hotel on our way to Yosemite Park.
First of all the hotel has no sign outside so we drove by 3 times before we found it. the lobby is completely empty, no furniture whatsoever. a counter with 2 people hiding behind it that speak very bad english. you begin to wonder .
we booked via booking.com. the hotel promises internet, fridge tea/coffee machine, breakfast, NOTHING is there. just one measly night light, no phone (so you can not call "front desk" to ask for "new" pillows), horrible old, lumpy pillows.
the hotel is under construction! well, we paid full price, 172$ which is a scandal! on our trip we stayed at varying hotels, including 2 Hyatt's for less then that so we expected a higher-end hotel.
what a bummer.

We were in complete surprised ( in a bad way) when we got there! I did not know that they're were under renovation. First, the name of the hotel is under Super 8 not The Monarch. Dust and trash everywhere outside in the parking lot, loud noise from the construction workers early in the morning, debris and unfinished floors on the first level. Because of the renovation, the swimming pool was not open for use. Finally, the front desk people (Indian decent) did not know how to work the computers....they couldn't give us a print out of our receipt when we checked out. Would not stay here ever again !!!
