We stayed at Mary Ellen's Poppy Hill B&B on the weekend of Apr 14-15. We stayed in the Mariposa Lily room which could accomodate up to 3 adults. There's a day bed in the room for the third person.
My mother fell in love with the place as soon as she stepped inside the house. She couldn't stop complimenting Mary Ellen for keeping the house in such good shape. She loved the decorations and how every piece of furniture seemed to be telling a piece of history of the place. Mary Ellen told us the house has been a B&B place for 16 years of the 20 years that they've occupied the house. She even showed us photos of how bad the house was when they purchased the property and how they have transfomed into a beaufitul place is it now today.
We were lucky that we were the only guests in the house that night, so we had the whole living room to ourselves. There were board games and books in the living area for guests to entertain themselves. Mary Ellen even set up nice music and loaned us a dictrionary for us to play Scrabble.
The bed was very comfortable (the day bed as well) and everything was clean. Breakfast was yummy as other posts of mentioned.
Although it seems a bit far from the park, the drive was actually quite flat and only took 30 - 40 minutes from the valley. The Hwy 140 entrance is the closest to the valley and very flat. They have set up temporary bridges due to the land slide that happened last year, but we did not encounted any heavy traffic during our visit.
We would definitely return to the Poppy Hill B&B to visit Mary Ellen again!
