“A hidden beauty”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2011

When we were looking to go to Yosemite we soon decided we needed to stay out of the park as rates were ridiculous inside the park. My boyfriend stumbled across Mariposa and booked us into Yosemite, I am so glad he did. The ones in the park have a convinient location but none were set as wonderful as the B and B.

The place was easy to find from Mariposa which is easily drivable at night to go get some dinner, lovely restaurant called Savourys.

When we arrived we were shocked by how peaceful it was,the views were absolutely amazing with wildlife running around the back. One night we just sat on the veranda and drank wine and watched the deer bring her babies to come eat. It was wonderful.

Our room was comfy and cool, it had everything we needed in there for a couple of nights.

The pool was a great feature we hadn't known about so it was nice to come back from the park and have a dip.

The owners were a wonderfully friendly couple who couldn't do enough for you, they like to do breakfast all together but we wanted to leave early to get to the park so they made us an early one especially for us with fresh fruit and muffins. The next 2 days we ate with everyone and it's a great way to meet different people and to find out about sufferer cultures.

This bed and breakfast came highly recommended and as soon as we got there we could see why!

We have just spent 2 wonderful nights (4 adults and 2 children) as guests of Joy and Clay in their 2 bedroom guest house and can highly recommend Yosemite bed and Breakfast as your base in the Yosemite area. A warm welcome greeted us upon our arrival and nothing was too much to ask of our hosts. The accommodation was warm and comfortable (a real home away from home) and Joy's breakfasts a real feast. Relaxing on the verandah after a day of sight seeing was a highlight of our trip and we found it difficult to leave at the end of our stay. Wildlife close enough to touch and a swim in the pool were certainly a feature for our children. Joy and Clay thank you for your warm hospitality and we hope to come back one day.

What a spectacular place to stay, we wanted to stay in Yosemite NP itself but this beautiful B&B (we stayed in the 2 bedroom cottage) was just Fantastic. So much room for all of us (we had 3 children with as as well) very comfortable and lovely and clean, such nice people who run it as well.
Clay and Joy made sure we had everything we needed and nothing was too much trouble for them.
Stunning views from the balcony as we utilised the barbeque and the birds and deer that came by were just gorgeous.
Thankyou for a lovely stay, 2 nights was just not long enough.

We stayed in the 2-bedroom cottage. It was just like home from home - spacious, clean and great amenity pack. The breakfasts each day were fabulous, especially when it was accompanied by the wonderful wildlife outside. Clay gave us good tips on where to eat each evening in Mariposa and near the park. I would certainly recommend this B&B to anyone staying near the park.

I stayed in the Sage Room during the weekend of April 16th during the Mariposa Civil War Days events. Since I was alone, while my son participated as a re-enactor in the Civil War Days and stayed at the campsite, I was nervous to stay in a town by myself that I had never been to before. I felt extremely comfortable staying here and Clay was an excellent host!! I will definitely stay here again.

My significant other and I stayed in the Sierra room and it was amazing on all levels. Very clean and well furnished, the room even came with supplies for making hot cocoa, coffee and tea, as well as free bottled water and snacks. Joy and Clay, the owners, are amazing hosts and fed us very well during our stay. The breakfast room overlooks an amazing view of a ravine and there were lots of doves and hummingbirds to entertain us during our meal.
The town nearby is also beautiful and has some nice places to eat and shop as well. Overall the whole weekend was incredible and we are already planning a return trip in the summer.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Yosemite Bed and Breakfast during a 3-week road trip across California. I have to admit I was slightly concerned as to what to expect as we drove through Merced and into Mariposa. There did not appear to be many houses around and lots of the properties we did see along the way did not look like places where I would want to stay. We managed to find the Bed and Breakfast fairly easily (we had a GPS) and it was located in a very nice area. There were not a lot of other properties around, but that just seemed to be the way the houses were laid out in Mariposa. We parked the car and followed the sign to Reception where we were greeted by Joy and their lovely, very friendly dog (her name escapes me). The office is actually in Joy and Clay's house and we were introduced by Joy to her family whilst she checked us in.

Joy then showed us to our room. We were in the sage room which was actually part of the main house. The room was of a reasonable size and tastefully decorated. The room had an ensuite bath and shower and everything was spotless. As the room was actually a room in the house, you could hear the family in the living area, but this was comforting rather than a nuisance. You had your own personal entrance into the room and could come and go as you pleased. There were 2 other couples staying at the B&B whilst we were there and we all had breakfast together the following morning. The breakfast was excellent and was all home cooked. We met Clay that morning and he was extremely hospitable. We spent the day in Yosemite which is about an hours drive away. The town of Mariposa was very small and quaint and had all you would need during your stay. There were lots of little boutiques and several restaurants and coffee shops. You had the feeling that you were experiencing 'real American life' whilst you were there. We stayed for 2 nights and had another fabulous breakfast the next morning with homemade pancakes, blueberry and maple syrup, juice and coffee. We chatted to Joy and Clay for over an hour and you got the feeling that they really enjoyed welcoming guests into their home.

There was another bedroom and also 2-bedroom cottage that you could stay in. The views from the balcony at the back of the house were amazing and we saw lots of hummingbirds feeding from the trees and coyote and deer very close to the house. I cannot recommend this bed and breakfast highly enough and would certainly stay there again if we venture back to Yosemite.
