My husband and his boss had stayed at this hotel in June, so we decided to return for a few days to recoup from a convention we attended on the East Coast before heading home.

The location was great and the rooms were very comfortable and quite big. The beds are awesome and I slept well every night. The rooms have a safe and a fridge which are always bonuses.

This hotel only had a couple of downsides, the first being the elevator, I hate elevators to begin with, but this one was ridiculous - very small and slow. I decided to use the stairs but each time I had to use the stairs after 5pm I had to get the front desk staff to unlock the stairwell door - more inconvenient for them than me! The other downside was the breakfast, by the time I got down for breakfast, usually around 9am, there wasn't a lot there to choose from - not a lot that I like anyway. However, my husband and I didn't find this too much of an issue as we just popped around to the local Coffee Bean and grabbed a bagel and a coffee.

Front desk staff were extremely friendly. Autumn was the supervisor when we were there who was only too happy to help with any of our requests! We requested a late checkout on our last day (3pm) and that was not a problem - no additional fees incurred!

Free parking is also great, we didn't have an issue getting a park (as it's first come, first served).

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is passing through and wants to spend some time in the Venice Beach area!

Great little hotel in a good area. Free parking. Clean room.
Mostly very nice staff.

This place is nice. 3 floors. Breakfast is OK. Small pool and hot tub. Staff was awesome.

This hotel had a very strange shape, which meant that every room had a garden view, which was very pleasant in a pretty built up area. The pool was small but fine for a cool down. The rooms were exceptionally comfortable, with the Holiday Inn's "Simply Smart Bedding Experience" - as an asthma sufferer I found it to be very fresh and clean - very different from many hotels. The hotel is a short distance from Venice Beach - which on the 4th of July was an experience - it was very busy and very entertaining. The following day we stopped by the Information Centre at Marina Del Ray - the staff were exceptionally helpful. We ended up, on their recommendation, renting a 19' speed boat and seeing Venice Beach from a different view - it was great. Lovely shopping in the nearby Santa Monica area. The hotel was well situated for ease of access to LAX.

I made reservations at this hotel because my first choice was booked. I was thrilled, however, upon arriving at the Holiday Inn Express -- Venice to discover that this is a first rate establishment all around, and a tremendous value for the dollar. From now on, it will be my first choice for hotels whenever I come to Los Angeles. My room was very clean, and included soft, new bedding and plush, new towels. The bathroom was spacious and very clean as well, and I enjoyed the microwave and fridge in the room. The location of the hotel close to Venice Beach is superb and there are plenty of restaurants and shops close by in the scenic Marina area. Plus parking is free and the gas station just a block away is the cheapest in town!!! The Holiday Inn Express -- Venice offers excellent value and quality at a very reasonable price. I wish I had discovered it sooner. Try it, you'll love it.

  • Disliked — Absolutely nothing.
  • Tips/Secrets: — There are only two elevators in the hotel. It's smart to ask for a room near the back elevator, closest to the garage, which will make coming and going a lot easier.
