I only wanted one night but when trying to reserve online it had a minimum of 2 nights. I called Best Western Marina Del Rey (that was the name at the time I inquired on 11-26-12) & spoke with Jason. He was able to give me one night so I booked my reservation. When I called Jason I wasn’t sure I would be able to book one night so I didn’t have my Best Western rewards point # handy. Jason said this was not a problem that I could bring it with me when I checked in. He NEVER mentioned that as of 12-1-12 the hotel would no longer be the Best Western but instead The Inn at Marina Del Rey. Although Jason gave me a confirmation # he also said he would email me a confirmation but I never received it. When I called & spoke to Farrow (sorry for spelling), in mid December to confirm I still had a reservation for 12-29-12 is when I found out that they were no longer Best Western. Farrow said that as long as I made my reservation before Dec I would still get this reservation added to my rewards points. When checking in the clerk would have to call Best Western to give me credit for the night’s stay.
Upon arriving to the hotel, the front of the building wasn’t very impressive, rather cold looking. I was glad I was told the name changed as the sign in front was also changed or I would have been circling around looking for the Best Western sign.
Jason was the clerk checking me in & acted like he had no clue as to what were rewards points for the Best Western. He kept repeating that they didn’t have access to Best Western on their computer system any longer & I kept repeating that Farrow told me that the clerk could call it in. He finally resigned after 3 times of me repeating that he could call them & said he would call Best Western. He then “turned” me over to another clerk, Phil, to continue the process of checking me in. He did not ask Phil to call Best Western or ask me for my rewards #. Once the check in process was done I asked Jason if he wanted my rewards # & he nonchalantly said it wasn’t needed but then decided to tell Phil to write it down.
Other than the lack of customer service I received from Jason everything at the hotel was very pleasant.
Parking was covered & conveniently near the entrance. There are bicycles for rent for those that prefer to bike around town. As you walk in there is a computer station with a couple of computers & a printer for hotel guests to use. The lobby was, clean, recently updated and nicely decorated for the holidays.
We reserved a room with two queen beds & there was ample room to move around. There was a dresser, a separate area / desk for computer hookup, a frig & good size closet. The wash basin had plenty of counter space & was located outside of the shower / toilet room.
Be sure and ask for a room away from the street side. Our room was on the 2nd floor on the street side so it was a bit noisy. There were various outside patio area’s located throughout the 2nd floor which would have been more enjoyable to use in warmer weather. Breakfast was very tasty, consisting of waffles, muffins, bagels, scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, sausage, cold & hot cereals, toast, juices, coffee & milk. At my request housekeeping brought up extra pillows within 10 minutes of my call. Other than Jason, the hotel staff, Phil included, were very pleasant & professional. I would definitely stay here again.
