“Ritz Carlton, marina del rey”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

This hotel represents a conundrum for the traveler. Its location is great, especially if you're in and out of LAX a couple of days apart. The view--if you have a full marina view--is outstanding. The staff is typical of Ritz Carlton--very pleasant, efficient, friendly and a pleasure. The actual accommodations, however, leave a lot to be desired. As has been noted here, the rooms are small, and the bathrooms even smaller. The rooms are much more like a typical Marriott or lesser quality hotel--not what you have come to expect from a Ritz Carlton. The fix-- knock the building down and do a new build. So, do you want something convenient to LAX with a killer view and great staff, but only a mediocre room and disappointing bathroom? This is your place. If you are used to more spacious, more modern accommodations, however, it isn't your place. A conundrum, indeed.

Nice outdoor eating and drinking area overlooking marina. Good sized pool, plenty of beds and towels. Can hear nearby freeway, but not that bad. In summer it looks like pool, tennis courts etc used for Kids club. Lots going on - holiday makers, business travellers, weddings, conference etc.

Overall decor and hotel staff service was excellent. Our floor had been redecorated and the room was smart and sizeable. Bed very comfortable. No noise issues.

It is a 15 min walk to south end of Venice Beach where the canals are. It is about 15 min drive from LAX.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite. We stayed here because it's close to the airport. The suites are fairly large and it had great wifi, you have to pay for it but it's fast. The staff are nice and courteous but the rooms really need upgrading all around. The bathrooms were particularly disapointing. If you did not know the name of the hotel and you ordered room service, you might think you were at a 3 diamond hotel. Not the best value because of these reasons. I wouldn't stay here again because of the pricing. I expect more for what I paid. We also stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Chicago and in NYC. We thought those were a good value in comparison.

My first stay at this hotel, for a 3 day conference. Very close to LAX. Walking distance to Venice Beach. A few restaurants nearby.
Rooms & service are what you expect from a Ritz. High-end personal service (doorman greeted me by name as I stepped out of the cab). Smooth, easy check-in. Luxurious amenities in rooms. Clean. No noise problems. Comfortable bed. Wi-fi worked fine. No problems leaving bags with doorman after check-out.
Had seafood brunch in restaurant on main floor. Pricey, but quality & variety were superb. King crab legs, oysters, mussels to name just a few.
Gave value a 5 because of conference rate. Probably a 4 at rack rate. All other ratings well worth a 5.

We spent one night at this hotel after a long flight from Tahiti before flying back home. Very convenient to LAX. We booked through Amex Platinum but did not get upgraded as the hotel was full. The front desk was cordial and helpful, arranging a taxi back to the airport for us in the morning. Our room was spacious and nicely appointed with a view of the pool, tennis courts, and marina. The balcony is a french balcony, not a full one. We were tired so we ordered salad, pizza, and sweet potato fries from room service for dinner. First, we got somebody else's food by mistake, then our pizza was not hot and the fries were cold and soggy. We called room service and they quickly remedied the situation. During the evening we could hear loud voices from the room next to us, which was an annoyance, but thankfully subsided before we went to sleep. The breakfast selection was good but service was painfully slow for a nearly empty restaurant. Although we had a few disappointments, I would stay here again due to it's close proximity to the airport.

Can't praise the reception staff enough they really do go the extra mile .You are really looked after with Ritz-Carlton and they are very reliable the rooms were very good and the whole place was very up together.
Small things that stop it getting 5 stars are the breakfast is pretty average and the rooms didn't have a desperate shower and bath.
Everything else is excellent.
