“Great Hotel with wonderful amenities”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2014

We initially picked the hotel due to it location near the water but found out it was so much more. It's clean, well maintained, has great amenities and very friendly staff.

Most of our time was spent on the property either hanging out next to the pool or paddle boarding with Mike Vaughn and the folks at Pro Sup Shop. It's a 2min walk from the pool to rent a board.
http://www.prosupshop.com/. My wife and my two daughters would spend the day paddling and then head over to the hotel restaurant for dinner.

The only drawback during our trip was the magnetic door keys had problems opening the doors.

I would highly recommend this hotel to any of my friends.

Spent the weekend at Jamaica Bay Inn marina del Rey. This was our first stay but will not be the last. For the past 15 years we have stayed many times at the Ritz (same area) and decided to try something new. This property is not the Ritz, but it is fantastic. In particular the service was amazing. From being greeted by Undrekeus at check in, to the great service in the restaurant, everyone was delightful!

We wanted a hotel near our daughter's apartment in Venice and she told us that the Jamaica Bay Inn looked very nice, so we booked it--and it was a great choice! It is in a great location and everyone was very friendly! We booked a marina-view room and were disappointed that the only way we could see the marina was to lean out over the side of the balcony. When I called to inquire, Nicolette apologized and said it really should be labeled a city-view room--however, she didn't have another room to move us to. She seemed to really try! She did send us some wine to apologize and then our parking was comped. Though not marina-view, our room was lovely--spacious with a comfortable bed. No complaints at all! Breakfast in the restaurant was excellent each day! The location is great for exploring on foot or bicycle. We will stay here again!!

We stayed at the Jamaica Bay Inn for six nights. The hotel is very well located right at the Marina with excellent views and within easy walking distance of many local attractions. Our room was huge with two giant Queen beds, and air conditioning.Although we tended to eat out the meals we did eat at the hotel were very good and reasonably priced .The hotel is clean and well maintained, and all guests are looked after very well by an attentive staff.A special word to two ladies who work the front desk Nicolette and Twila. Both ladies are a real assset to the hotel and should be praised for their helpfulness and professionalism, nothing was too much trouble for them.Nicolette has a massive sense of humour and is a genuine charmer. No one could dislike her.All in akll a very pleasant stay

Room Tip: Ask for a marnia view on the second floor

I hesitated, knowing some Santa Monica hotels were really famous and well-reputed. But went for this hotel based on 'oasis' type comments in other reviews (as well as 'good value'). And wow, it was. Other hotels around either look just so corporate and ugly, or are beautiful but blow-away expensive. Immediately you arrive here, it's weird, it feels like being in the Caribbean, even though there are busy roads around. The whole hotel faces the marina and the beach - it is ACTUALLY on the beach, for those who are not sure. And, you know, a bay is much more interesting than an ocean. The restaurant is really good and also cheaper than others, for better. The pool is lovely, service is excellent and rooms big with very comfy beds and TVs. It would be nice to have a bathtub though....and just a five-minute bike-ride away from the canals at Venice Beach, and the boardwalk.

Room Tip: 123 was just fine, marina/beach facing and opposite the pool.

We stayed at the beginning of February 14 at the start of our trip up the West Coast and our first experience of the hotel was a call to Elia to tell her that sadly we were going to arrive a day late as our airline had let us down and cancelled our local flight to Heathrow. Elia was lovely and really helpful which helped us deal with a difficult situation.

On arrival we were delighted with the location, nice and close to the airport and very handy for Santa Monica. We had asked for a bay view and a high floor and our request was granted. The room was very spacious with loads of room to sit and chill, we had a balcony too which was great to look out over the bay and the marina. The decor is lovely and the hotel has a really nice feel about it, contemporary but certainly not impersonal.

The hotel restaurant is lovely, sensibly priced, with a great menu including plenty of seafood and a fab choice of wines.

What really made our stay at the Jamaica Bay was the staff. Nicolette and Elia surpassed our expectations. They were so friendly and helpful, Nicolette was great and recommended a great place to go for breakfast locally. She was always fantastically helpful and went out of her way to make our stay perfect.

Our whole experience at Jamaica Bay was a great one and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone wanting a nice chilled out bolt hole away from the rest of the madness that is LA.

This hotel surpassed my expectations. The lobby, hallways and rooms are stylishly and tastefully decorated. Everything is very clean. The rooms are spacious and the view is lovely. We had an ocean-facing room with a balcony. It was such a pleasure to step out on the balcony and be able to literally touch the palm trees on the beach!

The restaurant was nice and the food was tasty. We stopped in for dessert. It was a cold and foggy night and we were immediately offered blankets and a second gas heater was brought to our table. The desserts were fabulous. Try the strawberry/brown sugar/sour cream ice cream, it's amazing!

My only gripe was pathetic water pressure in the shower, given the marble bathroom (with ample counter space, yay!) and shiny fixtures. Oh, well, maybe it's the drought thing.

All in all, a very impressive hotel with a very reasonable price tag.

It's a very easy 10 min walk to Venice Pier and the beautiful Venice beach. The little beach just in front of the hotel is lovely but doesn't actually connect to the endless beach of Venice-Santa Monica-Malibu, fyi. The hotel has a small pool where children frolicked.
