“Everything was perfect !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2011

Stayed there for 4 nights with my 17th y o niece, everything was perfect, very well located, close to Venice beach, possibility to rent bikes (cool to go to Santa Monica!) ... The staff was very charming and friendly, the breakfast restaurant was very good with quality food and a very friendly team. The room was large with a lovely view over the bay. Very clean and very well equipped.

Room Tip: The ones with the view over the bay.

We booked the Jamaica Bay Inn based on reviews here. It is indeed a very beautiful hotel. We were thrilled to be on the beach with an on site pool as well. It felt like we were in a resort. Our room was very large and well appointed. Loved the spacious shower with a shower head mounted high enough my 6'4" husband didn't have to bend over to get his head wet! The bed was very comfortable and the balcony large enough we sat out there for a couple of hours late one afternoon, just relaxing The staff were a mix of very helpful and not so much. We loved the place so much we asked to extend our stay by 1 day. The young man on the desk said we'd have to go and do that through the on line reservation system we had used in the first place. Luckly the young woman at the desk overhead and said no -- she promptly booked us in for a third night and said if the rate she was quoting was not as good as the one we had gotten when we initially reserved on line, just let her know and she would change it -- which she did. She was also very helpful in recommending restaurants off site (the on site restaurant is rather upscale and thus pricey). Breakfast there was very good and the service prompt and friendly. One day our room was not made up at the end of the day, however when we let the front desk know they apologised and it was done while we were out at dinner. We tried to stop for drinks on the patio the first evening, but after 20 minutes we left as no one came to get a drink order from us. So, service was a bit spotty, but not enough to keep us away (as I said, we extended our stay.) Valet parking is less than others say here, but we didn't use it -- you can park your own car very close to the hotel for much less. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would happily stay there again if we were in the area.

Room Tip: get marina view; city view is a busy street.

We reserved our room based on the reviews and the hotel's location being close (but not too close) to the airport for a stopover in LA. The experience exceeded our expectations in every way. First of all, the hotel is gorgeous inside and out and right on the Marina beach. We had requested and received an early check-in for our fabulous room overlooking the marina. There were no exceptions to the excellent service we received from the time we made the reservation by phone with Richard, who also happens to be an assistant manager. Leonard, at the front desk, even showed us the room to make sure we were pleased, The service, as well as the food and innovative menu in the hotel's restaurant, Vu, were also good although we agree with another review that you wouldn't want to have a romantic dinner there. The outdoor seating with view of the water is lovely. We were assisted with a car rental and Nicolas, assistant manager, even spent time with us to show us a beautiful route to take through the hills. You'd think we had paid a premium price for their best room, but our reservation was for a Spring special at a very reasonable price. We have to believe this is their customary service level. Should we be in the area again, we will certainly stay at the Jamaica Bay Inn again. No question.

Stayed here for 4 nights and loved every one of them. Great rooms and decor, fun pool and patio area and nice restaurant. Even the soaps and shampoo are top notch. But most of all, the staff is very accommodating and friendly. We rented bicycles one day and rode from Marina del Rey to Hermosa Beach. When my the chain on my mom's bicycle broke, they sent a paid cab to pick her up and bring her back and comped us for the bikes without asking. Just very helpful people all around, namely Kenneth, Jennifer and Nicolas. Will be back.

This was a fantastic place for us to end our stay in America. The staff I was involved with were extremely helpful & happy. Loved the room, it was one of the largest we stayed in while in America (we were there for almost 4 weeks). Great outside spa & pool area. An easy walk to Venice Beach & an easy 15-20min bike ride to Santa Monica (also easy bus catch). 15 Min drive to LAX international airport. Loved this place!

Room Tip: Bay view room with two queens was fabulous

Great little hotel! Booked this at very last minute after we left another and was so so pleasantly suprised by what we found!
Helpful staff, great location for the marina and beach at Venice! 10 mins walk max.
Room was massive and very clean and contemporary and made a really nice end to our holiday!
Only quibble is the parking charge, $14 to self park in a car park that is literally metres from ur rooms! But suppose u have to expect it in LA!!

Room Tip: Cheesecake Factory Next Door - Great Food!!!

Brand new hotel and it feels like it. The beds were super comfortable and everything was spotless. Go for the marina view, but make sure you get one facing the marina and not the parking lot where you can see the marina if you step out on the balcony. Sleeping with the sliding glass door open and letting the marina breezes waft over us while dreaming was heavenly. Loved all the little perks: 2 free bottles of water, phalate-free products (shampoo, conditioner, lotion, soap, etc.), free wi-fi, soft comfy robes. The pool is facing the marina and is great, although the soapy/bubbly hot tub was a little weird. There is a park on the beach a short walk away. The restaurant is hip and relaxing with an inventive menu (freeze-dried coke? compressed fruit? yum!) and great view. The only thing I didn't like was paying $14 a day for parking when the parking lot was half empty. If they switch it to free parking that would be the best! Oh, and I kind of miss free newspapers, they don't have them and I understand why (not very green), but the only time I read a paper is when I'm in a hotel and sitting on the balcony in the morning reading the paper and enjoying a coffee while watching the marina would have been so nice. Without the paper it was nice too. Don't hesitate, book your stay with Jamaica Bay!

Room Tip: Make sure to get a true marina view room
