I stay in the Los Angeles area quite often for business. For the first time this month I decided to stay in Marina Del Rey and was quite excited about it. The area is great but the hotel was a big mistake. The minute I walked into the lobby there is a smell of strong potpourri that can make you nauseas. As I was walking down the hall to my room I felt this was trouble. Maybe it was the dingy look of a badly needed paint job. The carpet in my room was so filthy I actually laid out hotel towels to walk on. I had to call house cleaning to change my duvet cover because the lipstick stains (along with stains) kind of bothered me to look at! Every rip of wall paper on the wall is nicely patched up with more wall paper. The television would get fuzzy every once in a while but a hard bang on top of the t.v. would clear that up in no time. The patio window on the outside was filthy. The carpet on the balcony out side had a huge hole in it right in the center. I paid for a balcony room with a view of the marina but I had a big beautiful tree blocking my view.
It is very nice that mangement comments on every post and tells us to rest assure that they will look into improving conditions but it's not minor issues they need to improve one at a time but a total renovation. It's on such a great piece of land - what a shame!!!!

You can read so many reviews and sometimes unfortunately the bad ones seem to dominate. Remember this as I got the feeling when reading the reviews that some people were being a little whiney and this was going to be a good hotel and such great value. Thankfully my experience was all good. There was a lovely Scottish lady at receiption who gave us a lovely welcome when we arrived after our long journey. Our room was great - airy, bright, clean, nice big bed, great coffee and all you could want. We got a fab deal - book 3 nights get fourth free! The breakfast cafe was great too - staff were really on the ball depsite how busy they were. The bar was great value too. They have a happy hour at a decent time too. I think the fact the manager takes time out to read all reviews speaks for itself! Thank you to the Marian Del Rey and all the lovely staff you made our stay in L.A. memorable!

We choose this hotel for our vacation through internet. From our experience sometime the internet promises more than you have in reality. We were pleasantly surprised and satisfied with Marina Del Rey Hotel. Perfect location, even for us, who don't use a car. Quiet, beautiful area on the water, convenient transportation, nice, friendly personnel and good service. We would definitely recommend this hotel for vacation time.

We were a little disappointed by this hotel. It is basically worn out and poorly maintained ...... for example our windows wouldn't open, the furniture was in poor condition, the carpets very dirty looking and marked, ice machine dirty. The pool water was murky, and the pool area not cleared up etc ... Much smell of cigarette smoke even in non smoking areas. We tried 3 rooms but all were the same. The internet didn't work the whole time we were there. The staff were polite but harrassed. The location is excellent. If you just want somewhere to stay in a good location away from the hustle and bustle it's fine. If you are looking for a positive experience from the hotel itself: avoid
