“Great find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

The Belamar Hotel is a lovely boutique hotel in a great location. The rooms are large and nicely appointed. Every member of the staff was very attentive and helpful. The restaurant is great. I will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the Oak Street side of the property.

“Not the first time and won't be the last”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

Love this little boutique hotel. Location is perfect for us, and the staff are amazing - very professional and accommodating. They stored bags for us when we made a side trip to Mexico, and were so helpful in calling a doctor when one of our party became sick. It's the little things too, such as the quick room service, and the free juice/flavoured water every day at reception.
Would not consider staying anywhere else when we visit L.A

“Highly recommended - good food .”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013 via mobile

We stayed at The Belamar for 2 nights after a long international flight, on our way to Canada . The room was in very good condition, the beds were comfortable and the staff was very friendly and professional .
The real surprise at The Belamar was the food - as a vegetarian I can struggle to find interesting and healthy food - in many places let alone a hotel . The vegetarian options for dinner were excellent and utterly delicious , I was genuinely surprised . Similarly , the breakfast buffet was fantastic with many healthy choices alongside more traditional options .
All staff members were helpful and in particular the car park guy - the older (but not old ! ) one - was excellent and happy to share his local knowledge .
The only downside was that the hotel was a fair walk to the beach and it was probably too far for jetlagged little kids but as we had a rental car, it was not a problem .

“Awful start but good recovery”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2012

We stayed here because of its convenience to the airport and to LA. It's an odd location, tucked behind a gas station on the outskirts of Manhattan Beach. Given, however, that Manhattan Beach does not have any hotels on or directly off the beach its about as close as you can get.

The stay started out horrible. Paid for the more expensive room that was to have a balcony and be on the tranquil courtyard but ended up in a room that looked out to a wall and pipes. The front desk manager said they had no more rooms. The dresser door was hanging on one hinge. My bags sat down in the lobby until I finally went down and got them myself.

After a rocky start the staff did everything they could to make it better. I got a discount on the room; a bottle of wine was delivered to the room; overall the staff is wonderful and friendly; and after I responded to an e-mail survey I got a personal note from the manager offering me a free room and breakfast for my next visit.

This is an excellent example of when problems happen and you have an unhappy guest, quality customer service and attempts to make good can make all the difference. We will stay again.

Room Tip: Location is everything. Some of the rooms look out over a very busy street. You really want to ask...

Murphykds,

Thank you for taking the time to complete our email survey and for sharing your comments on TripAdvisor. While we strive to provide the highest level of quality and service, we on occasion fall short of doing so. I have shared your comments with the staff and rest assured, we will do everything we can to ensure these things do not reoccur. It is also great to hear that the staff did everything they could to make your stay at our hotel more pleasurable after a few hiccups. I would like to personally handle your reservation the next time you stay at the Belamar Hotel. Please contact me directly whenever your travels bring you back to Manhattan Beach.

“Great get-away”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2012

For a year I had worked on Rosecrans Bl so was aware of this hotel at the corner of Rosecrans and Sepulveda. That was twelve years ago, so when I got the urge to spend a weekend at the beach I looked into it and now it is Belamar. What a great location - close enough to walk to the beach (it is a bit of a hike, but the dedicated walk path is really pleasant) and near shopping and restaurants. My room 211 had a balcony facing the interior patio and was just above a fountain, which was nice burbling ambiance. Clean and comfortable bed, and loved the Philosophy bath products. The front desk was friendly and efficient - my DVD player wasn't working so they swapped it out when I went for a walk, and had the movie on "pause" for my return. Loved the on-site restaurant for dinner and a martini, and the next morning's breakfast buffet was delicious, too. Would offer a "5" rating but I have to agree with other reviewers who said the place is a little "tired" -- Will not deter me from staying again, I really liked it here.

Room Tip: Be aware some of the rooms on the east side might have traffic noise, and you might enjoy your stay...
