Husband and I stayed here while in town for a wedding. We were very pleased with everything about this hotel, particularly as it's affordable and located in what is certainly not a vacation destination (one never knows what to expect in such a location). Our room--the entire facility in fact--was very clean and well kept, with up to date furnishings. It was hotter than heck during our stay (100F) but the A/C unit in our room kept the temperature down just fine. The bed was comfortable, with a decent mattress and above average linen for a hotel of this class, and our room was exceptionally quiet (we were at the end of a hallway nowhere near the pool area, so that helped no doubt).
The desk attendant was extremely pleasant and very helpful. Computers and a printer are available in the lobby and easy to access. Breakfast was included with our room rate, and it was much more than the usual individual cold cereal boxes and muffins--fresh pancakes, bacon and sausage, eggs, bagels, toast, and fresh fruit as well.
If you are traveling through Central California, and for some reason need to stay overnight in Madera, you can't go wrong with the Holiday Inn Express.
