“Cozy, friendly, and interesting choices.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

Great selection, small intimate setting, friendly service. I had the calamari with squid ink pasta. Very interesting (and good) flavor. We had out of town guests from work along, and they appreciated a local eatery instead of the chain restaurants.

“Excellent food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

This place has great food, and good value, and attentive service. We'd come more often if we could get in (make a reservation) but often when we pop in the place is so busy that we move on to another Los Gatos place and think about trying Pastaria another time. So, stop going to this place so that the rest of us can enjoy it more often! Just joking.

“Local Gem - worth any wait.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2012

Pastaris is a small neighborhood restaurant specializing in pasta. Creative menu, fresh fresh fresh pasta and ingrediants, creative and very reasonably priced wine list - need more?

Staff was friendly, but busy. Kitchen is small and open to the dining room, delivering wonderful smells throughout the visit. This place is full of locals, and while there might be a wait, the tables flip quickly.

I took 2 business collegues, both world travellers like me, and we all agreed this is our new standard for easy but high quality dinner in the Bay area.

“Homemade pasta in a neighborhood gem.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2012

We visited friends in Los Gatos and asked for a recommendation for Italian food. They met us at Pastaria. We made a reservation for four at 7:00 p.m. on their message machine, and they did call back to confirm. When we arrived, another person had been added to our party. The staff was able to accomodate us, even though the small restaurant was filled to capacity. The staff continued to be friendly and attentive. Our food and wine were divine. My husband judges an Italian restaurant by its linguine with clams in a white sauce, and he found it delicious. I ordered linguini bolognese and loved the spicy red tomatoe sauce. Two at the table ordered Tiger Shrimp alfredo and were delighted. The fifth person ordered two appetizers and a child's portion of tortellini. I was impressed that the management honored that special request. Since we were flying out the next day, we weren't able to take advantage of the generous leftovers. Pastaria offers very good value for excellent quality.

“Really good value for the excellent quality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2012

My husband is a wonderful cook who makes excellent pasta dishes from scratch, so we have almost no Italian Restaurants we go to on a regular basis, except this one.

They really are a pastaria, and don't charge outrageous amounts for flour and water (unlike...hmm...Flour & Water). Yet their quality is very good. We love their gnocci; the sauces are very tasty. The homemade mozzarella is heaven.

Often, if we get there when they open, we can squeeze in without a reservation. But we've noticed lately they are getting more popular. It used to be that we could still snag a window table. But now we get the table hanging out by the bar. Next I guess we'll be out of luck unless we learn to call ahead.

We did plan a large birthday dinner here once for 9 people: it worked great. I spoke to them in person well in advance - found out what time would work well for them to handle a big group (I think it was 5:30 or 6pm) and it was absolutely no problem. When you bring a large group to a small restaurant, it just makes common sense to be thoughtful about it.
