First night in LA, Century City and not sure what to do / where to go and ended up wandering round the shops in the Westfield shopping centre.
Jet lag setting in and needing something to eat and drink and we went into this building painted in a garish pink colour on the outside and it happened to be Pink Taco, which must be a chain because as we toured LA in the following days we noticed several other outlets.
We happened to arrive during happy hour which was good and and we, a group of 6, ordered a mixture of cocktails and wine. The cocktails were prepared with much show and entertainment but when it came to the wine the bar folks were less sure. We asked for Merlot but unfortunately it appeared they'd 'just run out' so we settled for an alternative. Time and discussion passed and we ordered another round, again much show with the delivery of cocktails but when it came to wine this time they'd run out of wine glasses, think we had the only two in the establishment, and we had wine served in jam jars, same as the cocktails so no problems but it seemed every time we re-ordered there was a problem with the wine, always sorted but got the impression that it's not a common drink drunk there.
We'd already had tortilla type chips and a very runny salsa delivered with the drinks but still needing to eat before we let jet lag take over we decided to order food at the bar where we had been sitting.
The order was taken and the food came in very good time. We all enjoyed what we had and shared and because of an extended happy hour our total bill for 6 with a main each and 3 rounds of drinks was $180 so not so bad.
On this experience we would return and recommend the Pink Taco.
