“Good price for location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2014

We spent a night here last week since we wanted to go to universal studios. It is about a 5 minute walk from the Hollywood walk of fame and all the theaters there so we had no complaints regarding the location. All the other hotels on the strip were more expensive. It seemed a little shady at night but there was still a big enough crowd.
The room was a basic room.. Some channels on the TV were not working.
The breakfast was very very basic.
The service was helpful.. We needed printouts and the person at the desk readily got them printed out for us.

Bottom Line: this is the second time we have stayed here and would be happy to do so again.
Rooms are clean and nicely decorated without being fancy. There were workmen there during the day cleaning the pool and the immediate area. The front desk person was friendly, solicitous and sent a fax for me at no charge. Secure parking in basement. No charge. This is the kind of place that I appreciate if I am not staying at a top tier hotel. Good value, well kept, good location and friendly. Breakfast is included but not particularly good. There is a waffle maker, boiled eggs, yogurt, bread, muffins, juice, coffee and a staff person to refill things and help. If you are on a low carb diet, have breakfast somewhere else. Still, some hotels have nothing at all.

Room – 107, two night stay
Internet – Yes, free, very good
Air conditioning – yes, very good
Electrical outlets – several, all in good shape
Smoking - no
Safe for valuables - no
Towels, linens – standard, white linens
Tissues (kleenex or equal) - yes
Facecloths - yes
Bed and pillows- must be a Quality Inn standard. Four smallish but satisfactory pillows.
Television – yes, wall mounted
DVD player - no
Shower / bathtub - standard shower in tub, just fine.
Bathroom amenities – minimal but just fine
Sound – doors open to the outside so you hear other doors open and close but nothing other than that. It is fine.
Exercise room - No
Robes - No
Coffee maker – Yes
Microwave - No
Refrigerator - yes
Pool - yes
Sound attenuation – just fine
Location – Excellent location in Hollywood on La Brea.

Your not going to get a five star hotel for less than five star prises. The rooms are standard but comfortable. Microwave and coffee available in your room. There is a free breakfast every morning it's basic but it's free. The location of the hotel is its main selling point just a small walk form hollywood blvd and the metro red line witch makes it easy to travel to universal city and downtown LA. This hotel is good if you are holidaying and just need a hotel in a good location to sleep.

This hotel was fine nothing special, a good breakfast plus an ice machine and free coffee, a bit of traffic noise in my room so if you are going book a quiet room near the pool. The staff were helpful and friendly. My transfer from the airport took two and a half hours as the driver doesn't know where they are going they use tomtom navigation systems and got lost. Try and avoid them but booking a taxi or private car its more expensive but faster. I recommend the Hollywood and holocaust museums, walk of fame, and Westwood Cemetery where Marilyn Monroe is interred, its near the Avco building down a small lane not the big national cemetery. To dine out try Pa noodle restaurant its excellent. Overall I loved my ten day stay here everyone was so friendly to me.

Room Tip: Book a pool view or at the back away from the main road.

We stayed here for 3 days. It was very central Hollywood Blv was only around the corner. This place is great if you only want to dump your bags & just hit the road sightseeing. Rooms were spacious beds were comfortable & the staff were friendly & helpful. The breakfast was great good selection although the dinning area was small not a major issue. We would stay there again for sure.

We stayed here for what was meant to be the final 3 nights of our honeymoon/Route 66 trip and I can tell you now out of the 15 hotels we have stayed in over the last 3 weeks, this was the worst. Ok so I know it's a budget hotel and I wasn't expecting luxury but I was at least hoping for a safe neighbourhood, pool that could actually be used, an edible breakfast and good customer service - we got none of those.

The area isn't great, it doesn't feel safe there, especially at night. The hotel is dead opposite a row of dodgy looking shops and is quite dark except the hotel itself; car park entrance is actually on a street above and not secure as the gate wasn't ever closed, let alone locked.

When we checked in, the guy on reception was having a Skype call with his feet on the desk and looked thoroughly put out to see us there needing his services. He sighed a bit then got up to sort us out, and we ended up with a room directly facing a walkway on the lower floor, with a wall 2 ft the other side so no natural light and loads of people staring into our room as they went past, so we had the curtains closed pretty much the whole time we were there.

The room itself was dated, like the rest of the property. There were cigarette burns on the bedding and mould in the shower. It stank of stale smoke covered by what I can only assume was the entire contents of an air freshener can, made worse by the fact the maid sprayed in there again whilst we were out the next day. Bed had very small pillows and a thin duvet, not comfortable either.

The pool, well, I wouldn't ever advise going in there. One, it faces onto reception and the street through glass doors, so not what id call peaceful and private but two, it's full of rubbish and I don't think they bother cleaning it, period. Leaves, a fag end and some chewing gum were all in there, floating around, not to mention the bottom is covered in brown limescale. The recent paint job of the area surrounding the pool is just weird, it's like it's been paint bombed in green and purple, and they've managed to half cover the signage around the edge with the water level info on, as well as all the plants nearby.

Breakfast is in a small room with 3 tables for all guests, we ate both times by the pool on loungers which wasn't an appetizing experience, but no table in room so what can you do. The doors aren't automatic either so we struggled a bit to manoeuvre our hot drinks and food through - god forbid any of the staff would help us. Food was typical budget hotel which is fine, but both times milk was low and a huge queue for everything, so get there early! There's an IHOP nearby, if you prefer.

The good points are free parking, free internet (but slow and kept cutting out) and free breakfast.

In short, I won't be recommending this hotel or indeed hollywood to anyone, what's there is grimy and a let down. We checked out early and booked our last night at a marriot in Santa Monica which was a lovely place to go and for anyone travelling Route 66 or to LA id advise a day trip to hollywood as it can definitely be done in a oner, and stay at the beach as it's lovely! We visited Santa Monica, Redondo Beach and Humasa (or similar) and all were nice :-)

Firstly when pulling up the area around the hotel is a bit run down and on the way in we saw some wierd people! We parked up and walked in were the guy on reception was sat with feet up having a nice chat on sykpe with someone!! After he manage to get up to see us I went to move our car to the car park. Which is meant to be secured but was wide open and was the whole time of our stay!

We walked into the pool area to which looks like someone has has a paint ball fight in there the floor is hurrible! The pool was dirty so didnt swim in it!! We went to our room which had a view of a brick wall no natural light hust three lamps to light the rpom which smelt like some let of a perfume bomb it was rediculous!! The bed throw had cigarette burns in it. Mould in the shower around the edges. Nice.... Breakfast is a joke,5 tables in breakfast room and 30+ rooms, they say eat in your room but you dont have a table!! The area made us feel unsafe and didnt realy want to go out at nights. All of the above lead us to leave a night early and we move to Santa Monica. My advice stay there isnt Hollywood can be done in a day realy isnt that much to see. Just get a tour from Santa Monica. Univerals is wortg doing but again just drive there!!
