We found the Hollywood Celebrity Hotel to be a good value. We found it to be safe and clean. Those expecting a quality free continental breakfast, free newspapers should look elsewhere.
However, in the words of an old hotel chain ad, if you're looking to "spend a night and not a fortune" then this hotel is for you.
Highlights:
*very polite desk service and maid service----both were helpful, enthusiastic, efficient and polite
*rooms are fairly large---our "Executive King" room had a sitting area and dinette {with fridge} as well as bathroom with adjoining "makeup" room
*rooms clean----our room was kept spotless
*television with free premium channels.
*water/plumbing worked well. Unlike some older hotels, shower/toilet worked well---good water pressure.
*location ideal--minutes from mall, metro and tourist attractions
*free internet access in the lobby is a plus
*free parking was a plus. Lot is small and typically crowded but we lucked out during our week there and found a spot every time. {in any event, should the lot be full, the staff does provide you with other parking options and reimburses you}
Lowlights:
*no paper at your doorstep in the morning
* "free continental breakfast" is an absolute joke--fatty options only---with sliced {!} muffins and croissants. On occasion there were a few bagels present but rarely any jam. We found other chains "free continental breakfasts" to be infinitely better for the health-conscious.
*stairs by lobby had a strong cat smell---I suspect someone had illicitly smuggled a feline into their room. Mercifully, our room had no such smell.
*walls of room are thin. On our first night there, my partner was awakened with the sound of a male screaming from outside. Fortunately, the noise soon ceased and did not re-occur during the rest of our stay.
To sum--while were were not "wowed" by the hotel, we might return..... if the price was right.
