I paid standard rate on Priceline for this hotel, about 102 USD per night. I got 10 bucks off for each roach I found, which was a total of 4. I read other reviews, people said they liked this hotel, but it is very worn out. Great location, other hotels nearby, the Liberty Hotel or Orchid Suites maybe be cleaner/better shape.
Overall, I would not stay here again, even though it is in a safe area, right by the metro and the H&H mall, Hollywood Blvd has been elevated in status these last few years, it is quite safe. The hotel manager is not so friendly, other staff are. He does not know LA very well...so beware his directions, he would not call me a cab saying FedEx was 3 minutes walk away. It was 45 minutes walk. That pissed me off more than the roaches. Oh, the other thing in this hotel is noise. You can hear everyone around you as clear as day, the stomping on the ceiling, their going to the toilet and the room next door's TV. It makes you feel as though you're in some run down doss house with it's worn out 1920's decor - which with the roaches and stuff I am thinking you possibly are. Great location, needs a lot of work.

I booked this hotel based on the reviews I read on this website. It was the cheapest highly rated hotel for L.A. We were a party of 2 adults and 2 children staying in a huge room with 2 queen size beds on the first floor. The room had a small fridge and a kitchen table. The furniture and bathroom was out-dated. The floor of the bathtub was stained. It took a long time for the water to get hot. Other than that the rest of the room seemed clean. The walls in the room were cracked. Free parking was extremely limited...we didn't want to take the car out too late for fear that we would not get a parking spot. The area seemed safe and was very close to the Highland/Hollywood Centre, Walk of Fame, Graumann's Chinese theatre, subway. Breakfast was pretty limited in choices - it consisted of muffins, bagels, croissants, hot chocolate, fruit juices, coffee and tea. The night time clerk was not friendly and a suspicious fella, but the day time clerk (unfortunately I can't remember his name) was the nicest hotel personnel I ever encountered.

Considering the price of other properties in L.A., I would say I got my money's worth.

You should make a point of visiting the J.Paul Getty Museum - beautiful...and free!

We booked this after reading reviews on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed. It is very reasonably priced and it is right next to the Highland Hollwood shopping centre. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was simple but adequate. There are a couple of tables out the front where you can sit and eat. We enjoyed having our breakfast there each morning. This was one of our favourite hotels during a six week stay away.

If you're looking for a 4-star hotel, this isn't it. However, in a land of overpriced properties, the Celebrity is a great find in the middle of Hollywood! At $79/nite, you can't beat it. Make sure you get a room on the opposite side of Franklin St. to avoid the traffic noise. Only complaints were a strong smell of cleaning solution/fresh paint and a bit grungy shower. Otherwise, the water was hot, the bed was clean & comfy and the free breakfast, Internet and parking offer a great deal in pricey L.A. You can walk to the Kodak shopping area and be sure to get tix for a taping of Jimmy Kimmel Live.
