“Fantastic location - average rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2009

The Hollywood Celebrity hotel is located within a couple of minutes walk to Hollywood blvd and all the tourist locations that go along with that. In particular it is nearby both Graumman's Chinese theatre and El Capitan theatre as well as the Kodak theatre and several museums. There is also the Hollywood/Highland metro station and the outdoor mall which has a lot of great restaurants and cafes as well as shops. I was a little worried when I checked into the hotel because it is in a quiet cul de sac off a main road that appeared to be in the middle of a residential area but it is in reality just hidden behind all the chaos of Hollywood blvd. The location should be the reason you stay at the hotel as the rooms are pretty average. However, it is relatively quiet and the staff are friendly. I stayed 4 nights in total and am really glad I picked on somewhere so central which considering the location was very affordable. The room I booked consisted of a small kitchenette (really just a fridge and table) and a bathroom with a large closet area that was great for lots of luggage. The bed was large and comfrotable. My only issue was with the noise from the parking lot and one of the streets which my window basically overlooked. It was OK if I kept the window shut at night and turned on the air con. The computer in the lobby is free for guests however if there are other people waiting it can be a bit of an inconvenience. I was expecting free wifi in the rooms however it does not reach beyond the lobby. I believe there is cable internet in room meaning you need a laptop but this would not work for hand held devices etc.

I stayed there for 5 days and developed a rash. The doctor said is due to mites.

Except for the location, this hotel is nothing better than a motel. Don't bring a car because parking is troublesome. I suggest you go for a bed and breakfast and save your money for the more fun part of LA.

LIKED: Great location if you are touring Hollywood itself. Walking distance to Hollywood Blvd, Mann's Chinese Theater, mall. Close to Hollywood Bowl and Hwy 101. Nice staff. Clean rooms. Free parking.

DISLIKED: If you've read my reviews you know I'm not a fan of the price many motels are charging (they call it a hotel, it appears to be a nicely renovated motel). Parking is free but is directly off a very busy street during rush hour and can be difficult to cross over lanes when it is busy.

OVERALL: We have stayed here twice and I think it is a decent place to stay and would recommend it if you are searching for a low-key, clean motel, that is well located for a Hollywood trip. As with other motels in LA, I think it is overpriced for a place to sleep.

I booked this hotel because of the rave reviews. The service is excellent beyond 5 stars. I guess because there are so many hotels around, they have to provide something unique .

The reception/concierge were extremely helpful, genuine, friendly and were real street smart about touring L.A. They made sure that you were not ripped off when enjoying the sights of L.A. And that was really important because it was hard to get around. One of the staff named Syed was exceptional in giving great advice about the city.

The location was superb, near Grauman's Chinese theatre. And the rooms were great, it can get a bit noisy but I used ear plugs.

The breakfast was simple, just bagels and muffins and free internet.

The hotel was worthwhile and great value.

Fabulous location, only a few minutes walk to Hollywood Boulevard and one stop on the train to Universal Studios. City tour buses are also literally around the corner. This a very clean, boutique hotel with great knowledgeable staff. There's a nice outdoor seating area to have breakfast in or relax after a day sightseeing.

It was also nice to have free internet.

The only negatives are: thin walls (hope your neighbours don't like to watch tv at 6am!) and this hotel needs a few more tables outside as breakfast can be crowded.

Found this little ripper on the internet. What a lovely little hotel tucked in behind the kodak centre. Could not fault a thing about this hotel. The price, the staff, the room, the location, the breakfast everything was great. Our room on the second floor had obviously been renovated as every thing seemed nice and new. To get to the strip we cut through the kodak centre and we were there. About 150 metres. With its great location came access to all eateries and shops of course so no shortage of things to look at or eat. Vending machines provided by the hotel offered cheap snacks and drinks. Free Tea and Coffee was available all day in the lobby. This hotel was a great find and I highly recommend it. Dont hink you could go wrong with this hotel.
