We originally booked a hotel outside of Hollywood and changed the night before our trip to this particular motel. Reviews were good which made me feel more comfortable. Excellent location close to shops and food and all tourist activities, especially the walk of fame, chinese theatre and the Hollywood sign. Easy access to all tours including a bus to Santa Monica beach (about 1 hour away). Very friendly staff provided advice and assistance. Breakfast was standard pastries and coffee/tea, but enough to start the day with something in your stomach. Excellent sized room (we had king bed). Air conditioned, which was very important considering the heat. Would definitely recommend for the location.

TO SAVE MONEY...

Take the underground train to Universal studios, as it is only a few dollars and stops right outside the gate to the park, with a free shuttle inside. Rather than booking tours online, walk around the tourist areas and negotiate with the vendors as they are willing to sell tours below the listed cost if they arent busy.

Stayed at the Hollywood Celebrity for 3 nights over Thanksgiving. What a charming place.

Pros:
The staff are WONDERFUL and very friendly.
The rooms are gigantic.
The location is great-right behind the Highland shopping center and all that Hollywood has to offer.
The rooms have Queen/ King beds instead of the Full/ Queen beds that are more typical of LA rooms.
Free parking!
Free continental breakfast.
Free internet in the rooms and use of hotel computer in front lobby.

Cons:
The hotel is old. It is very, very clean for its age and was probably updated pretty recently, but the windows allow lots of street noise into the rooms. You can mitigate this by turning on the fan (window unit). That is the only con I can think of.

Honestly, if they replaced the windows and did a full renovation (granite/ tile, etc) they would probably be able to command 3 times what they charge. I'll take the old and clean for the price and will most definitely stay here on my future trips to LA.

We only had a brief stay at the Celebrity Hotel as our stay in LA was brief but we selected it on the basis of other travellers’ reviews on this website. The hotel is a LONG way away from the airport and an expensive taxi ride away, but it is in an extremely good location in Hollywood and that is one of the main reasons to stay there. It is literally a few steps away from a comprehensive shopping centre and the Hollywood Walk of Stars. It is also very close to an underground Metro station and 1 stop away from Universal Studios by Metro.

The rooms are quite large and certainly comfortable, but a little on the tired side and could do with a bit of a refresh. Each room does have air conditioning. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the hotel also offered breakfast in the price, and the bagels with condiments were a great start to the day shared in the downstairs lobby or outside on the terrace. The hotel has free internet service also located in the lobby.

The staff at the hotel are exceptionally helpful and friendly. We planned and organised all our activities with them directly and they even had a taxi waiting for us for our transfer to the airport when we had quite a tight schedule. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel and the tired rooms are not that big of a deal!

What a location!

It is in a quiet 1930's Art Deco street yet on the other side of the same block there is bustling Hollywood Boulevard. It is literally 5 minutes walk from The Chinese Theatre, The Kodak Theatre and The Magic Castle.

The staff are fantastic and are always ready to provide help and advice if needed.

Free internet was welcome as was the buffet breakfast (croissants, bagels,muffins,coffee and juice). The rooms are a comfortable size and are very good value when you consider the location.

We would certainly stay there again when we are next in Hollywood.
