I spent four nights at the Hollywood Celebrity Hotel. Overall, it is a hotel that provides good value and a good location. It is not a glitzy place, and services are limited, but for the person who knows what he is getting, it is a good option.
The hotel is located about a block off Hollywood Blvd., near the Chinese theater and the other famous Hollywood sites. It is, however, on a relatively quiet side street, so you're buffered from the noise of Hollywood Blvd.
There are plenty of restaurants in the area, so one needn't drive to eat. That's important for two reasons: first, traffic around the hotel is always bad. Second, the hotel does not offer room service or any other in-hotel dining, other than a continental breakfast.
The hotel is close to the Hollywood freeway, which makes access convenient to places such as Universal Studios and the valley. It is also close to the Hollywood Bowl, Griffith Observatory, Paramount Studios, and upper Sunset Blvd and Santa Monica Blvd. It would not be ideal for someone planning to spend lots of time at the beach because the drive to the ocean is brutal because of traffic.
My room was spacious. There was a large living room area, small kitchen, and large bedroom. The bathroom was small, but adequate.
The hotel provides free internet access via an ethernet line. It worked fine.
There is free parking in a lot near the hotel.
I would stay here again. It is not the type of place that will impress anyone with its flair or style, but if you're in LA to do things and not spend much time at the hotel, it is a reasonable option given its location and affordable price.
