We have just returned from a 5 night stay over the New Year's Holiday at the Magic Castle Hotel in Hollywood. The staff were great and even provide a ride up to the Yamashiro Restaurant at the top of the hill above the Hotel. The view and food are incredible. Memoirs of a Geisha was partly filmed here. The hotel staff were very friendly and accomodating. Walked into the lobby to the wonderful smell of hot cider and cinnamon(cookies too). Afternoon tea is available every day. Bottled water is provided as you need it. Our room was spacious for our family of 4: 2 adults and 2 teenagers. We could fall asleep in our bedroom and not hear their late night movie.Had a full kitchen. Every morning we took our breakfast back to our room to sit on the patio enjoying the morning sun. Breakfast was great, cereal, pastries, fruit, yogurt, granola, juices, coffee. There is a pleasant heated outdoor pool for sunning or swimming. Staff helped us with directions/maps and reservations. We did the family brunch at the Magic Castle Club on Sunday at their recommendation. We had great food and were treated to a Magic show that was funny and truly amazing. Our son thought it was as good as Universal Studios. This hotel is located very close(walking distance) to Grauman's Chinese Theatre and the stars walk on Hollywood Boulevard. We took the metro to Universal Studios-it is 1 stop away. We were centrally located to make easy drives of 20 or 30 min to Pasadena, Santa Monica and the Getty Center. We will definitely stay here when we come back to LA. This hotel helped make our vacation an almost perfect trip.

  • Liked — service and room
  • Disliked — nothing
  • Tips/Secrets: — staff doesn't always explain details so ask, ie.granted adjustment in rate for AAA when I asked; didn't tell us magic show was part of brunch,

After reading reviews online we booked and had a fantastic experience here. The room was large and clean and amenities like an apt. which made it perfect traveling with our 2 kids. The front desk staff could NOT have been any more helpful and courteous. They shuttled us up the mountain to Yamashiro restaurant, provided driving directions and suggestions of where to go. The only negatives were the pullout sofa's mattress was prettty worn out to the springs and they did not have any replacements and the rooms were not very soundproof as the other bathrooms were quite loud as was the traffic. But- nothing is perfect but this place was close- great location, room and service.

  • Liked — size of accomodation
  • Disliked — traffic noise
  • Tips/Secrets: — ask for a room off the main street

Several of us from Northern California and Las Vegas met up at the Magic Castle on Nov. 28th. From the moment we entered the lobby (which had warm cider & cookies for us) to the time we left it was the best hotel experience we've ever had. The staff went out of their way to see that we had everything we needed. They called for cabs, they gave us snacks to have on the flight home, they even made each of us a sign as a memento of our trip with the name of the band we had come to town to see...The rooms were fully stocked with all the necessities and the beds were very comforatble. If we are ever lucky enough to be in LA again, we definitel will plan to stay there again.

There were 6 of us who stayed in the 2 bedroom suite and we were extremely pleased. From the moment we stepped foot in the Magic Castle hotel we were treated like royalty. Doors were opened for us, a sparkling juice cocktail was handed to us in champagne glasses, and chocolates and biscotti's were available - what more could a girl want!!! We were then escorted to our room by Gretchen. who let me tell you is a GEM!!! I hope the MC realizes what a special employee they have here. She made us feel so incredibly welcome...just can't say enough about her!!!

The room was pleasant and spacious for all of us. Of course, a second bathroom would have been nice - haha! Everything was nice and clean..something I always appreciate in a hotel room!! The hotel is in a perfect location too...just a few short blocks to Hollywood Blvd. We felt very safe in the hotel!

The next morning we enjoyed the complimentary breakfast that the hotel provides. There were delicious scones, yogurt, cereal, coffee, tea available...everything was wonderful!

Overall, it was a great experience and even plan on staying there again in the near future. We had decided to do some sightseeing the next day and even though we had checked out, the hotel had graciously held our luggage for us. Gretchen even provided us with some "travel snacks" for our plane trip home. Talk about hospitality!!! We were all impressed with this hotel...you will not go wrong with this one!

Just want to add that all the employees (wish I could remember all their names) were incredibly friendly..we just spent the most time with Gretchen and therefore, remember her name!

I had wanted to go to the Magic Castle Club for my birthday but heard that it was a private club for members only. However, my boyfriend discovered that guests of this hotel were given admission to the club during their stay. The reviews looked good so we took a chance. We were not disappointed.

The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Upon arrival we were offered cookies and hot cider. The club is just right next door to the hotel, but if you ask, they are happy to shuttle you up the small hill just so the ladies don't have to try and hoof it up there in high heels! I certainly appreciated that. :-)

When we came back from the Magic Castle (which we LOVED!) there was a pretty box all wrapped up in a ribbon that contained an adorable mini birthday cake and a card signed by the staff! What a nice touch--and yummy cake too.

We were surprised to hear that the pool is heated to 80 degrees year round so we took advantage of that fact and had a romantic and refreshing moonlight swim. (They don't close the pool at night, they just ask that you observe "quiet hours" and not disturb others).

The hotel was close enough to walk to all the other places that we wanted to see so it was the perfect place to stay. I would definitely stay there again if I am in the area.

Thanks Magic Castle Hotel Staff for a magic birthday!
