We have just returned from a 5 night stay over the New Year's Holiday at the Magic Castle Hotel in Hollywood. The staff were great and even provide a ride up to the Yamashiro Restaurant at the top of the hill above the Hotel. The view and food are incredible. Memoirs of a Geisha was partly filmed here. The hotel staff were very friendly and accomodating. Walked into the lobby to the wonderful smell of hot cider and cinnamon(cookies too). Afternoon tea is available every day. Bottled water is provided as you need it. Our room was spacious for our family of 4: 2 adults and 2 teenagers. We could fall asleep in our bedroom and not hear their late night movie.Had a full kitchen. Every morning we took our breakfast back to our room to sit on the patio enjoying the morning sun. Breakfast was great, cereal, pastries, fruit, yogurt, granola, juices, coffee. There is a pleasant heated outdoor pool for sunning or swimming. Staff helped us with directions/maps and reservations. We did the family brunch at the Magic Castle Club on Sunday at their recommendation. We had great food and were treated to a Magic show that was funny and truly amazing. Our son thought it was as good as Universal Studios. This hotel is located very close(walking distance) to Grauman's Chinese Theatre and the stars walk on Hollywood Boulevard. We took the metro to Universal Studios-it is 1 stop away. We were centrally located to make easy drives of 20 or 30 min to Pasadena, Santa Monica and the Getty Center. We will definitely stay here when we come back to LA. This hotel helped make our vacation an almost perfect trip.
