Well, this will be a short review because all i can say is "ditto" to all the raves already posted. My 11 yo daughter and I stayed for 2 nights this past weekend (mid-July). We came from a short stay at a hotel in Beverly Hills where I was staying for business. The other place was very nice & fancy, but we both loved the Magic Castle so much more! Huge rooms, unbelievably friendly and genuine service, and all the little touches already mentioned made us wish we could stay an extra week! I want to give a special shout-out to Adam for the awesome music piped in poolside - he had a great mix going on.

I want to reiterate the comment about how easy it is to take Metro to Universal Studios - we did that and it cost $5 roundtrip for both of us. I'm so glad I decided not to rent a car, we didn't need it at all for the local sites we wanted to see and use of Metro. And by the way, check your Coke can for $15 off coupons for Universal Studios!

The only thing to be aware of is very weak water pressure in the shower, but that was just so minor and I would not hesitate to highly recommend this place to anyone. We can't wait to find a way to go back soon!

The location - near Hollywood & Highland, not to mention the Magic Castle club - is great. Note that although the hotel advertises how the club's doors are "thrown open to you," in reality expect to pay a $20/person cover - even if you're having dinner. The hotel itself is a 50's-era apartment building, converted to a hotel. So the rooms are huge - 1- and 2-BR apartments. The paint on the walls, and the sparse furniture, is a clean, contemporary style. The lack of artwork (aside from a couple of magic-related posters, framed) on the walls contributes to a sense of squalor, as do the worn appliances and the minimal furnishings. An investment in decor would improve the property immeasurably. Service was fine, and the included continental breakfast - enjoyed on the pool deck - was appreciated. The rooms, while basically clean, are in need of attention and suffer from inexpert repairs - bad caulking in the bathroom, stained tubs, flaking paint. Window coverings are all-vinyl shutters, when contributes further to a "cheap" feeling. For the price and the sheer square footage, this is a deal; don't expect anything approaching the comfort and style of the nearby Renaissance hotel, though.

I find it hard to fault the Magic Castle. Visited the Hotel twice in the past 10 years and this time around, had the choice of choosing a 'cheaper' deal at a hotel located just around the corner. I didn't think twice and plumped for the Magic.
Great spacious rooms, complimentary mini bar, cheap/secure car parking and the fact that you can sit poolside, enjoying the free breakfast whilst surfing the internet with the free wandering WIFI access makes the Magic real value for money and a cool place to be.
Can't wait for my return visit to LA and the brilliant Magic Castle Hotel. Oh, yes and the staff are friendly, helpful too.

Nice place. The service was among the best that I have experienced at a hotel recently, and I travel a lot. They easily booked me a hair appointment on short notice, recommended restaurants, and advised me on traffic times. Love the breakfast. Plus I felt pretty secure with the need to swipe my room key to get both in and out of the parking garage at night. A plus when a woman travelling alone.

The one thing I would say is that it is hard to figure out where the heck you're supposed to park when you pull in. There is an adjacent restaurant and from the street it appears that the doors for the hotel lobby are actually the restaurant entrance. They also tell you to review them on TripAdvisor if you're happy with your stay, which I thought was a bit tacky. But overall a terrifically convenient, reasonably priced, comfortable place to stay.

My girl friend and myself were going to LA on business for a week, we went out a day early and stayed at this hotel. The only bad thing about this hotel stay, we could only stay one night! What an amazing staff! From the time we got there until we left, they took care of everything! I was greeted with a refreshing glass of sparkling lemonade, snacks and fresh fruit. I even asked where I could buy some wine, they handed me a bottle!

When it came time for dinner, they not only made our reservation but took us there and picked us up! The view and dinner was to die for! It's a top the hill from the hotel and has a great story behind it! Ask the staff, they will tell you all about it!
The pool was great and heated! I felt like I was an old time Hollywood movie star! If this hotel could talk, the history would be rich!
The breakfast offers fresh baked breads & rolls from a local bakery along with fresh fruit and dairy products.
Coming from Corp. hotels all the time, this was a welcomed stay!
I will make plans to stay longer then next yr. What a great place for a girls get away! Thanks to all the staff for making us feel like we were the only guest there!
