We spend 8 nights at the “Magic Castle Hotel”. Our room was not overlooking the pool, room 305. We had no trouble with noise from the street. Our room was normal size. The bathroom too. Everything was very clean. We want to say a good word for the great job of the people at the reception: Mike, Nick en Gretchen were always very friendly and helpful (they also booked for us a studio tour). They are really doing a great job over there. The staff were amongst the most helpful and friendly we have ever come across anywhere.
A few mins walk to Hollywood Blvd, subway, restaurants etc.. Great breakfast served in the lobby (pastries, coffee and cereals) that you can take to your room or sit and enjoy around the pool. You are given a key to open the electronic gate into the underground garage. You get a coffee pot, fridge, and iron in the room. Internet access in the lobby (10 min. for 2 dollars). It was an excellent hotel, in a super location, and we would certainly stay here again on our next trip to LA.

Hollywood Hills Hotel & Magic Castle Hotel are run by the same people. Walking distance to Mann's Chinese and Hollywood Blvd. Walk of Fame. Check-in at MCH lobby. Gated parking is $8. The HHH is at the top of the hill, across from Yamashiro Japanese restaurant. MCH at bottom of hill, across from the famous Magic Castle. Great views on top at HHH; there's a big, quiet pool up there too but it needs a new pool floor. MCH pool is much smaller & less private but newer/better maintained.
My first room at HHH had a fantastic view but carpet and chairs were worn and stained. I asked to be moved to one of the newly refurbished rooms (improvement going on at both HHH & MCH). The staff was very understanding and immediately moved me to a new suite at the same price. Nice staff here, unlike some other uptight LA places.
Continental breakfast served in MC lobby is great, but somewhat incovenient for HHH guests who must walk or drive down the hill. Not enough seating too.
If you stay at either HHH or MCH, you get access to the Magic Castle next door, an extremely cool private club of magicians. Plan a night for dinner there-- wander around the club afterwards, it's awesome. Jacket/tie required for men.
I'll be back!

We recently stayed here while honeymooning throughout the SW US.

The room we received was at the back of the hotel and to be honest, it didn't seem like one of the newly-renovated ones. It was clean and spacious, but some very minor details, such as old carpet, suggest that it is yet to be renovated. Still, I couldn't really fault the room.

I think it's basically the staff here that make the stay worthwhile. From the moment we arrived, they were very courteous, friendly and professional and always greeted us with a smile. Certainly a break from the norm in Hollywood.

Hollywood itself is extremely seedy and we never felt totally safe there while walking at night. It's probably not too bad an area, but just be wary when out at night because the surroundings don't inspire confidence.

If I ever had to stay in Hollywood again, I would choose the Magic Castle...

We stayed at the Magic Castle September 24, 2004, and it was definitely for us. This was our third trip to Hollywood in 2 years and were pleasantly surprised with the outstanding service this hotel offered. We had a 1 bedroom suite that was extra large, clean and comfortable. We were in the back of the hotel where it was quiet as a Bridal Shower was going on while we were there and the staff was making sure all of the guests were taken care of. The staff accomodated us with a parking spot for our son who we were visiting on our stay. I could go on an on about this hotel. We loved it and would recommend it to anyone going to Hollywood who is looking for a smaller hotel that is clean, very accomodating and within walking distance to everything. Again the staff is excellent. Thank you, Magic Castle, Hollywood!

The Magic Castle Hotel is fantastic! We stayed for 4 nights and loved every minute we were there. The staff are so energetic and helpful. Any query is fulfilled without fuss and with a smile.

The hotel is in the middle of renovations but to no real discomfort. The room was spacious and clean, in a little need of an upgrade but when we visit there next time, I'm sure it'll be fabulous.

A few mins walk to Hollywood Blvd, subway, restaurants etc..which is great. Great breakfast served in the lobby and lovely surroundings around the pool to sit and enjoy the pastries, coffee and cereals.

Also visited Yamashiro restaurant behind the hotel. The meal was superb. We had a fantastic night. We will definately stay at the Magic Castle Hotel when we are next in LA!!
