We recently stayed at the Magic Castle over April vacation with our 2 kids (12 years old twins). It was great to have the suite so the kids had their own bed and tv and we had a king bed and tv in the other room. The room was a little outdated as others have said but very clean. The daily terry bath robes, mints on the pillow and weather forcast for the next day left by the maids was a plus. There was a free continental breakfast which we took advantage of every morning but one, and a small kitchen with microwave, stove and fridge. The kids LOVED that they had free snacks and drinks at the front desk and they could run down themselves and get whatever snacks they wanted. The days we swam in the heated pool they even brought out bottles of water and popsicles for us. The staff couldn't have been nicer. We enjoyed the free DVD's in the evening to help unwind from the day. The location was convenient and parking was only $10/day. Overall it was a well enjoyed vacation by all, I would definately recommend the Magic Castle.

  • Liked — clean, free "minibar" for kids
  • Disliked — a little outdated

Our family of 5 stayed at the Magic Castle Hotel for 4 nights in April. We were thoroughly delighted with our stay. The rooms were spacious and clean although not the most modern decor, but then we weren't visiting LA to critique hotel furniture!

The staff go beyond fabulous. They are always friendly and helpful at all times. Our kids loved the swimming pool, free mini bar and breakfasts.

The location is wonderful, so close to Hollywood Blvd and all the tours depart from there too! The metro train stattion is also just down the block.

Our only down side was having been woken up 2 nights in a row by the same guests. The returned to the hotel at 2.30am and decided to sit outside our window smoking and chatting loudly! I promptly contacted front desk and was astounded with how quickly the situation was dealt with. Rembering that the hotel can't be responsible for the actions of others, I didn't see that as a mark against the MAgic Castle Hotel.

We would definitely return to this hotel without hesitation. We were thrilled with this experience.

  • Liked — Spacious rooms, Friendly Staff, Great Location
  • Disliked — People smoking near the breakfast area. Smoking should be banned!!

We selected the Magic Castle after reviewing the trips on this site. It was more than we could have expected for a 3* hotel - one of the cheapest we could find! The staff could not have been more helpful. Lots of comlimentary extras like breakfast, drinks snaks, excellent toliteries, dvds, mints, a weather report posted under your door for the next day! It is in a perfect location, great swimming pool, clean rooms. I do not think there is anywhere better for the price.

Top tip: get the staff to book you into the CalAsian restaurant at the top of the hill behind the hotel. The hotel staff took us in their car and picked us up. We got a complimentary appitiser. The view over LA was spectaular and the food absolutely delicious!

This is a great hotel, a real one off!
We had a fab suite with living room, kitchen/diner and seperate bedroom and bathroom.
The fixtures and fittings were a little dated, but we felt that added to the charm, and everything was immaculately clean.
The staff were fantastic and happy to help with anything any time of day or night. And the free "mini bar" is a great service, they even made sure we had enough food and drink for our forward journey.
Breakfast was served in the reception every morning (croissants, danishes, muffins, cereals etc).
Parking was $10 a day in a secure under ground car park, which we thought was a really good price for 24 hour parking in a city.
The hotel is in a great location for the Walk of Fame, Kodak Theatre and bus stops for the tours.
If we returned to LA we wouldn't look at any other hotels, we'd book straight back into the Magic Caste!

I planned a trip for myself and three girlfriends and wanted someplace within a reasonable distance of the Pantages theater (Wicked). Hollywood seems full of margin hotels at high prices but the Magic Castle is an excellent value for the price ($189). Our one bedroom suite had a queen sofa sleeper in the LR (comfortable) and a queen in the bedroom. I requested a quiet room and was given room 210 overlooking the pool. I am a light sleeper and heard NOTHING. We enjoyed the free snacks, excellent location, reasonable parking ($10) and friendly staff. The free breakfast was great and the rooms were clean. The nearby Renaissance and Roosevelt hotels are $100 more per night at least, with fewer amenities. I will return to the Magic Castle again!
