We enjoyed a wonderful 2 night stay at the Magic Castle in Hollywood. We were lucky enough to get a newly renovated One-Bedroom Apartment which was spacious, clean and had all of the amenities we needed. We would not hesitate to stay again.
CHECK-IN:
Check-in was prompt and the complimentary lemonade refreshing and delicious. Front Desk staff were so wonderful at check-in providing us with maps, print outs and a wealth of knowledge about the surrounding area and things to do.
ROOM:
Our room was great, it is exactly as described – a renovated 1 bedroom apartment, and met all of our needs. The surprise chocolate celebration cake and card left for us from the staff was also so thoughtful and lovely (it was our honeymoon).
Kitchen was massive with a full size fridge, oven with hotplates, microwave, tea and coffee facilities and a small selection of dinnerware and cutlery. There was also a full size 4 seater dining table in the kitchen.
Lounge area had a work desk, double couch and arm chair and LCD TV on the wall (also a DVD player with free movies to loan from front desk).
Bedroom was spacious with full sized wardrobe and dresser, there was also a coat closet outside of the bedroom, so there was ample space. Closet contained a good sized safe.
Bathroom was standard, only problem we had was the shower tended to be fine then all of a sudden turn scorching hot! Nothing that ruined out stay, but if you do have children taking a shower just be mindful of this as when it turned hot, it was HOT (I wouldn’t want my young daughter to be under that temp).
LOCATION:
Great location, walking distance to Hollywood Blvd and to the train station at Hollywood/Highland, it took us less than 5 minutes to walk to the train station which was perfect for us as we used public transport to go to a night Laker’s game and also to Universal Studios (only 1 train stop away).
You will definitely want a car if you want to explore the greater area, but that is not because of the Hotel’s location but because LA is so spread out. Only took us around 10 or so minutes to drive to the Grove and Farmer’s Market which we went to for dinner and then lunch and shopping the next day, and Santa Monica was less than a 30 minute drive (we got caught in traffic) from the hotel.
Plenty of restaurants and stores within walking distance, as well as a pharmacy and grocery store.
BREAKFAST:
A complimentary continental breakfast is provided in the lobby, where you can either choose to eat on the patio or go back to your room. The selection was simple but delicious; pastries, muffins, toast, spreads, fruit bowl, yoghurt and juice.
STAFF:
Staff were amazing and so helpful, they made us feel so welcome and we felt they were very approachable. I walked in around dinner time one night and said to one of the lovely front desk staff that I had no idea where to eat dinner, the lovely lady threw all these options at me and even printed maps etc for me to make it so easy for us to find the restaurant – they are a great help.
