My husband and I stayed at this hotel for one night between flights home from Tahiti.
I read the mixed reviews but got what I thought was a very fair price online so decided to try it. I was very happy we did.
We landed at LAX and waited approximately 15 to 20 minutes for the free shuttle to pick us up. We arrived at the hotel and found check-in to be very quick and easy.
Our room with king-size bed looked out across the street to the airport. While we could make out some airport noise, it was fairly well muffled and didn't prevent us from getting to sleep. The room was clean and comfortable with plenty of towels and toiletries.
The hotel itself was, in my opinion, very clean and well kept up. LAX is obviously an old airport and the surrounding hotels reflect that but the Crowne stood out from the others to me.
We stopped by the concierge desk for advice on sight-seeing and found the gentleman who helped us polite and informative. At his suggestion, we took the 40 minute bus ride to Santa Monica but opted to take a $20 cab back as we felt it would be faster and more comfortable.
Upon returning, we stopped by the restaurant for some desert and found the staff to be attentive and the food average.
We woke up the next morning and were checked out and loaded on the shuttle quickly and with no hang-ups.
I agree with previous reviews that this is not a good location for tourists but if you are on business or in between flights with some time to kill, I think this is a fine hotel to stay at.
