“Great for an Airport Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013

I was here for 1 night at the start of a road trip and had #1216. This was a frontward view and overlooks runways at the airport. Great for watching flights come and go and the noise from there, with the window shut, really isn't that bad at all. No pool or anything like that, no outdoor open area terrace either. The place is aesthetically nice but it is an airport hotel, not a destination place for any family trip.

Room Tip: Get a place on the back side(odd numbered rooms) if you don't like the runway noise.

I am glad to hear that you enjoyed your recent stay with us here at the Crowne Plaza Los Angeles International Airport.

You are absolutely right about the odd numbered rooms being quieter....in fact, the lower odd numbers are the quietest. We truly appreciate your patronage!

Nice hotel, everything you would expect from a premium chain such as Crowne Plaza and nice helpful staff too. Restaurant food very nice, bar prices expensive but no surprise for a hotel like this.

Big bonus is that they offer a regular shuttle bus to all airport terminals free of charge.

Highly recommended if you want a hotel near the airport however please bear in mind it is a good 15-20 mins drive from the main tourist areas of LA and Beverley hills.

Crowne Plaza Los Angeles International Airport, 5985 West Century Blvd, LA 90045
22 to 25 January 2013 (approximate stay)

Getting there:
At the airport was hard to navigate - LAX is massive. We followed the signs out to the bus stops and than had to walk a little to find the hotel bus stop location. There are very specific areas for the buses to stop, and that is the only area they are allowed to stop. The drivers we noticed were ALL making sure that no one at the stop wanted them before driving off which was great.

Our driver had a packed bus and was still very nice and polite. This was a complimentary service.

Upon arrival we were greeted by a very lovely gentleman named Alex.
To put into context we arrived early and had a few personal things. Alex was fantastic his level of customer service was 10/10. He answered our questions and gave us information about the hotel. As I said we had personal things to tackle here too.
Alex was not exactly certain about a couple of things and asked his boss, Patrick

Patrick and Alex were extremely helpful to us; it was great to have this sort of service and help genuine help. They really did work as a team and went out of their way to help. They showed that they listened to their guests, thought about what guests were needing and did their absolute best to accommodate that.
They were polite and never made our 'things' feel like a burden or hassle. They were clear in communicating what they could help with and what they could not help with.
Information they provided to us was relevant and up to date on the hotel and facilities.

This we seen during our stay as a common characteristic of the team members.

We were priority club members and had a room on the Club Executive lounge level. the top floors of the hotel.

Foyer of this hotel was impeccable. Very clean and tidy. It was warm and inviting. Entering you come through a double glass sliding doors and move to your right to the Reception and check in court.
For clarity you got left to a couple of restaurants and facilities

The desk was as we mentioned staffed and with wonderful staff.

upon check in as we are priority club members we received a drinks voucher to be used at the restaurant in the hotel. :) very nice.

Meet and Greets:
Walking the halls every single staff member was polite, said hello and welcomed us to the hotel and I think all wished we had a good stay.
It was most unexpected to meet the hotel Manager during our stay - more than once.

Staff / Management:
This demonstrated to us that they seriously invested their time and energy to checking on the hotel, facilities and made themselves openly available to guests.
Not shying away they introduced themselves and were looking for feedback. Actively seeking out thoughts of as many guests as they could.
The one thing I could definitely say to them was - get a microwave for guests to use. (I even made the suggestion that as one hotel chain does in Australia, they loan the microwave to the rooms; hold a monetary deposit and once the microwave is returned undamaged that amount is refunded).

As mentioned a special acknowledgement and thanks to both Alex and Patrick who are very willing to help guests out. 10/10 gents.

The room:
It was a generous size and smelt fresh.
To the right was the bathroom. I am extremely picky on the bathroom of places and to be honest this was one of few that was actually clean.
The basin was nice and clean and had sufficient amenities.

The toilet was clean and white.

The shower over the bath: was not marked nor stained from what we could see. [An extra hand rail would be great - secure one too] There is also rooms for limited mobility people just ask.

Then we go into the room and the bed is on the right - it was massive and had enough covers. It was nice and squishy and laying down on it you sank just a little into a comfort.
On the left of the room - opposite the bed was the Cupboard which had a bar fridge inside and a roll out coffee/ tea maker and ice box. On top was the TV.
Further down towards the windows was a work station that you could access wired internet. What was good here was the light - it was bright enough to stay up and work and see adequately but not too bright that it disturbed a sleeping beauty.

Next to the best, so on the right hand side of the room and opposite the work station was a armchair and foot rest. you could use this to watch TV from or pull back the curtains (both sheet and black out) and watch the view.

The Bar fridge was empty - this was fantastic it let us put our own items in there easily. There was no pressure sensor devices or other items to have to worry about. Do NOT change this - it's a great feature of the room.

Benefit of the CLUB executive lounge:
So as I said we had a Club Executive lounge room this gives you a few extra benefits and access to other things offered by the hotel.
The biggest benefit was having a club lounge to access, which gave the following"
Mornings
- breakfast spread put out and available to us in the lounge. This included hot foods that changed daily, cereal, toast and mixed fruits, tea/ coffee, real juices and water
- Friendly staff serving us- Big shout out to you; it was lovely to have a chat.
- Chance to be social and meet other guests: sharing stories
Evenings.
- Served some drinks, appetizers and selected alcoholic beverages.

Inside the room at all times you could access and use the TVs - yep more than one.
There is a sink and generally some fruit left out for you to nibble on during the day. There is also a the hot water for tea and coffee additional to those in your room.

What was missing: a microwave.
This hotel needs a microwave for guests to access; arriving late or leaving early its a great way to quickly heat a meal.
What we found was generally in the area it was hard to find a vegan (egg allergy to consider) meal; having had a microwave would have been 10/10 rating for this room.

Hotel Facilities:
Since the new laws came into effect the hotel underwent some renovations and now has access for limited mobility guests.

Location: This is close to the airport; thus the airport complimentary shuttle. To be honest there was no real disturbing airplane noise as you may expect. There was the occasional plane that flew down into the airport but that noticed mostly in the mornings.
There are car hire places a good 45 minute walk away; or depending on who you rent through 7 minute taxi ride (we recommend seeing Diana at Enterpise 9734 Bellanca Ave LA [definitely stay away from Alamo] they were friendly staff at Enterprise).

Secure:
The way to get access was with your room key; to the gym, the pool area, to your room. Even through the lifts to the Club level.

In room internet:
You can gain access to the internet both wireless and wired (from memory as of our time of stay) check with the staff for costs.

Gym:
It was fully equipped for the social runner up to the fitness expert. Really well set up and areas separated based on the type of exercise you were doing.
There was enough machines and TV set up through out.

Pool:
The pool is outdoors and would be ideally located in the hot summer months. For us it was too windy to use during January. There is no jacuzzi or spa anymore.

Cafe:
As mentioned there is a restaurant on site and a cafe. There is also a public internet option here with printers available, check for costs.

Functions:
If you go to the foyer again and follow it around there is a number of event and function rooms - one door was open and sneaking a peak it was well set up - great space and lovely covered tables.

Lifts:
During our own search we found that lifts worked well and did not have to wait longer than 98 seconds at any of the times we pushed the button. For a hotel of this size that is great.

Parking:
Valet is self explanatory; you pull up, give you keys over and pay the team members.
Self parking is available and there is a great option for guests - so make sure you check with the reception desk for a great parking offer at the start of your stay - actually before you go and park.
The parking building is independently owned and next door but still only a 2 minute stroll. We found ample parking each time we came and left.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

We stayed here on the last night of our Cali trip. It has been undergoing a remodel according to the bellman, and it is beautiful. The room was huge, with a very comfy king bed. We had a view of some of the LAX runways, which suited my pilot husband just fine. Airport noise wasn't a bother, hardly noticeable. Staff very friendly. The only thing that bothers me about some of the higher rent hotels is that they charge so much for internet service. The rooms are pricey enough without the added charge for wifi. Just my opinion.

This was a very nice, restful place. Would stay here again.

Very reasonable prices. Beautiful silent room with nice amenities. Pleasant staff, although
you should not count on any choice of food being left late at the first floor eating facility or on the food attendant-cashier making the slightest effort to help you.
